Vogue Italia March 2025 : Ariana Grande by Elizaveta Porodina

Her face looks like it's melting away. Beauty standards nowadays are really bizarre.
How anybody with eyes finds any of this truly attractive and achievable?

I completely agree with you the concept is very interesting and I like Porodina’s style (although she continues to produce the same work) but Ariana simply doesn’t have the ability to pull it off. The cover is outshining her, this bold style with so many colors, requires someone who knows how to work in front of the camera and she simply can’t pull this off as she has no versatility. I’m honestly tired of this all “I’m a fragile butterfly” act, because we all know she was never like this.
Long story short, the focus is on the background and not her.
Totally! I feel that Porodina as a photographer repeats and quotes herself a bit too much to my liking. Also while I understand that Ariana is the girl of the moment because of the awards season but I don’t think she’s Porodina’s muse here.

Often I think the photographers/stylists are letting the celebrity models down, but in this instance I think it’s Ariana that’s the problem.

^^^ Actually her current skin tone is (or close to) her natural one. She as child actor looked that way, and then, as so many celebs, tanned herself for years. I don't know if she stopped for Wicked or health issues. She also said that regrets doing botox and other stuff to her face.

This cover reminds me a bit to Vogue Unique. Not the same quality of course, but I spotted the ethereal mood from those.

Funny I was reading one of the last threads of VI under FS, and there was a fear to see a star (not a model) on the cover every month. 3 in a row in this year 😢

I like the photography style (even though it got tired very quickly) and I really love Ari, but no, it's enough with her melancholic facial expression. Not even Billie is that sad

So march will be for pop stars? let's wait France,Spain, and the rest to see...

i dont really wanna say it, but did she do something to her face recently? Like in all her eds/campaigns recently, her expressions are stiff/forced

It's probably great for her fans to see her photographed in a different style, but for anyone who's seen this style before, does it offer anything new by this point?

When you have a photographer with a very distinct style, it always reminds me of artist Katerina Jebb who had a very brief moment in 90s fashion magazines (and the cover of some Tori Amos releases, like 'Spark' and 'From The Choirgirl Hotel') whose visual style was like smushing your face into a photocopier.

As a fashion photographer, you can develop a very recognisable 'voice', but at the same time, become very limited in your visual vocabulary. Where do you go from there? In Katerina's case, back into the art world.

Admittedly, this isn't the worst Vogue cover I've come across over recent months. Not the biggest fan of Ariana Grande but this is all working. I like the photography, how different and stylistic it is, and the colouring. My one complaint would be Ariana's startled expression... which has become somewhat of a Grande signature.
