Vogue Italia November 2014 : Carolyn Murphy by Steven Meisel

I never realised Doutzen and Carolyn look so much alike.

i don't think she looks like doutzen at all especially in this..doutzen has much softer (and imo prettier) face ;)

This just goes to show how impactful a fold-out cover can be! :magic:

The fold-out makes the cover even more special and that video is just out of this world !! It's one of the best videos they've ever made. Carolyn couldn't be more gorgeous and haunting.

I like the noir vibe of the cover...

Correct!! The entire foldout made me pay even more attention the the image. The video is exceedingly cinematic almost veering towards performance art, especially the sequences with the net over her face and shifting hues. Totally bookmarked this video.
I don't generally buy Vogue Italia, but I absolutely must get this issue and I anticipate it will be my favourite VI for this year.

I love the cinematic feeling, specially the B&W pics.
Thanks for sharing :)

Why Meisel are so lazy, boring ed and boring the styling, Carolyn look old, and the face of the last photo is terrible

Wow this is terrible! Meisel didn't wanna go to work that day.

by 'old' you mean that she looks like the 40 yo woman that she is?

the youth idealization that's going around in the forums lately is driving me crazy!

^Agreed. It's like...how old did you think she was? 25? Of course she looks "old" compared to the literal teenagers clomping along the runways. But compared to actual grown-up women, Carolyn looks anything but old.

I personally love the edit. It's cinematic and mysterious--almost like a prelude to a Holiday psychological thriller. And you can see in each photo why Carolyn has that beauty contract.

I can't help but think that Meisel shot with every model featured on the September cover around the same time. So we can probably guess that the next few issues will feature one of those models haha

The ed is so beautiful and totally has that haunting vibe you would get from a psychological thriller. Carolyn looks wonderful; I don't understand why people are so shocked by the fact that a 40-year-old woman doesn't look like a teenager.

I actually like this ed, for once, and I think the cover looks so much better as a foldout. I enjoy the mood and the overall theme of the editorial. It seems very cinematographic!

I am happy Meisel portrayed her in a natural way, I wish we would see more models around Carolyn's age in campaigns and magazines without an excessive amount of photoshop. That is something for what I have to give credit to VI this time.
