Vogue Italia September 2012 : Carolyn Murphy by Steven Meisel

amber editorial is so reminiscent to stella in previous year. kinky, weird and sick, however stella`s was reminiscent to a real historic person, here it`s all just rubber fantasy.

Murphy explained, “The concept is based on something called ‘masking,’

Ahh, I knew I was reconizing Meisel's inspiration for this ed. I read about it a while ago, it's a type of drag performance, Julie is the most famous one.

It's a bit creepy.

I've been a huge fan of Cindy Sherman since I was in high school, and this is so viscerally reminiscent of her, I must get this. The masking thing? So strange and brilliant, I live for this kind of creepiness

Cindy Sherman, Cindy Sherman and Cindy Sherman great work/inspiration by Meisel.
Stellar story by Steven Meisel, its really well done. It actualy reminds me last September with Stella where he chose a model to portay a woman (in the other case Ethel Granger) and he basicly did the same this time but with a completely new approach.

The rest is boring and lifeless like the other issues and thats what needs to change in Vogue Italia. Im not still sure if I´ll buy it...lets see if my love for the main editorial is big enough

loving all the snaps posted!:D
even though i'm not a fan of the whole cast except for Eniko, it really looks like a great issue so far.. especially Meisel's and Aldridge's eds :woot:

they seriously need to do something with the layout though, immediately!

Definitely the best cover of all the "September Issues" of this year. What a great issue.

Now this is a september issue! Loving every editorial so far (except the newbie one, which I still find bland). Carolyn is working it even behind those scary drag queen masks, and Eniko's ed is so powerful and amazing I'm getting chills.

meisel's editorials are a bit dull

but i really like eniko's one!

I want to like the main spread because it really is a well shot story for the most part, but the idea is just so nauseating for me. Maybe I would like it if I could get the image of Jocelyn Wildenstein out of my mind. But to be fair, the story he did for their last September issue inspired by the woman with the smallest waist with Stella Tennant was equally bizarre but I found more of a sense of fascination in that, even if it was in a dark way.

Not really crazy about any of the other editorials in this issue.

Yes. This is pretty scary.
I mean not just the masks but the whole vibe.
I absolutely adore it. The last shot is my favourite, its in some way very violent, i dont know. I love it!
Great work with the sets and location.

The ed of Carolyn scared me! I hate what they did to Carolyn's mouth! :yuk:

The third shot is very scary
They could have hired any model though, Carolyn is only "recognizable" in two shots.

^Yeah but she did a great job (I think).
I wish the editorial was longer.
