Vogue Italia September 2011 : Stella Tennant by Steven Meisel

The main story is just superb. I didn't know who Ethel was and the moment someone brought up her name, I started digging and read some chapters of her husband's book, they seemed to have had that Dita Von Teese + Marylin Manson vibe for their time, multiplied by ten, there's something eerie about their relationship, at least to me, because I cannot relate to any of it!. Anyway, I was waiting for the main story to be a let down as it usually is with Italian Vogue but the whole team just captured the aura of Ethel to perfection, the way the entire thing is composed is just beautiful to look at. I haven't bought VI since the issue inspired by Suna No Onna and I think this will follow.. it's exactly what I want to see in Vogue Italia, something inspired.. inspiring and visually addictive.

Thanks tarsha & tentalicious!

On the whole, so far, this issue looks pretty good..........nowhere near their best, but decent.
The main editorial with Stella is more or less what I was expecting after seeing the cover......Meisel captures the decadent mood perfectly and no-one does upper-class rebellion like Stella. Of course there are some questionable posing, but the pic with the neck-corsette is a classic.
Vincent Peters has done remarkable things with Isabeli with a totally understated and sublimely beautiful editorial. This is Isabeli at her very best IMO.
Klein's edit. with a great cast is striking and effective and the Couture supplement pic by Roversi is stunning as to be expected.
Not much interest in the rest to be fair.

I think this Vogue September idea is aweful, !!the corset is terrible!!!

Woah, that's an amazing editorial! Best thing out of the issue imo.

The Craig McDean ed is just gorgeous!! I love everything about this issue, I can't wait to get it!

^ Typical McDean. It looks good, but it doesn't excite me at all.

Fantastic ed by McDean! Love the rich colors.

The corset idea was great for the cover, but it has to be in every photo???
August with Raquel was 10000 better.

^ Well, yeah. It's based on someone who wore them like that every day. I don't see the problem.

Chic-Gothic-Glam looks really beautiful, i especially like Ruby's pics
..i'm becoming a fan of Craig McDean ^_^

As expected, The Discipline of Fashion looks great! It didn't disappoint like what I've thought at first before seeing its entirety. Stella just nailed those freaking corsets! Well actually, she did nail the whole Ethel Granger inspiration. The shots itself are just amazing. As much as I love Erin O'Connor, I don't think she could pull this off like the way Stella did. ^_^

Chic-Gothic-Glam looks so AnOther Magazine to me. Suddenly remembered Ultraviolet Garden editorial shot by McDean as well when I was looking through it. But it looks great too though. Love the 5th close-up shot of Arizona.
