Vogue Italia September 2024 by Steven Meisel

The same reprints/stories that you get in the main editorial section of current UK Vogue.

Honestly i’ve tried to like the main story but i can’t, i’m sorry, don’t hate me lol…and a lot for that is bc of the styling…all of them are beautiful women but the final selection of pictures seems a little bit all over the place…

v fortunate for us Deva Cassel got some of her mother's photogenic abilities, she can actually pose and use her face.

I bought my copies in Italy, I was tempted to take them all but then I saw that they are foldables for each Issue there are 3 images (for example Vittoria, Maria Carla and Linda, Linda Mathy Deva and so on) I bought the covers of Linda Vittoria and Isabella....they are even more beautiful (maybe the most beautiful is the one of Maria Carla and Deva)

add third to them - Ivano
Oh, Franca Sozzani. To me Vogue Italia will be forever those 28 years. The Vogue of my generation. This is another magazine, far from what it used to be. It makes me smile to find a reference to the glory days. I spot Meisel pics from the archive in most of the issues by Francesca. In another take, I was expecting a free access to the digital archive again. It's not happening...

Bought today, my issue has covers with Vittoria, Mariacarla and Linda. Number of pages 434 (438 if you consider the Dior foldout).

Is there a retrospective section of the magazine's past?
Exactly. You will forgive the poor quality of these images, I hope. The foldables here are Louis Vuitton (back of the three covers) Fendi (obviously), Giorgio Armani and Dior.IMG_20240903_203124.jpgIMG_20240903_203232.jpg

^^^ Just a feature story with a handful of selected covers. Not a retrospect.

(BTW, although Vito Fernicola’s story is the best, it’s just too short, leaving the coverstory in its deluxe layout being the only worthwhile content; that is, if you’re a fan of Meisel giving minimum effort. I just can’t take the excessively jarring retouching nor the unflattering fried-out blowout hair. And is there a reason why Maty and Isabella aren't glammed out like the rest, and instead, dressed like a fashion spinster and in a shapeless potato sack…??? Even the reprints from Nigel and Meisel’s feature of Ghesquiere works for this issue. Unfortunately— or fortunately, this issue looks to be as good as it gets from current-era Vogue Italia attempting to live up to the glory days of Franca’s. Not great by any means, and none of the imageries, and especially the cover story’s, are worthy of inclusion for a Meisel book, that’s for sure. And it’ll be back to budget-edited reprints and a third-rate designer-imposter like Rafael soon enough.)

My question was: is there a section showing covers and fashion editorials from the past? A retrospective of the magazine's history.
Sorry I misread hahaha. However, there are some old covers but they are inserted alongside articles written by historical collaborators of the magazine who tell their version of VI story. There is even an article by Farneti. In addition to the one Phuel sent you, I find this one interesting... The first cover by Franca Sozzani and MeiselIMG_20240903_214654.jpg
