I'm not her number 1 fan but that's totally harsh and inacurrate to say this.

It could be a nice cover but I always hate this white background.

Regardless of Joan Smalls being a good model, this cover cover shot does not do her justice (and I doubt would of done any model a service). The airbrushing is so evident it's ridiculous. Joan looks completely lifeless and those eyes remind me of Snejana Onopka's Lanvin campaign.

^^ How can you call an opinion on something so subjective as a model's abilities inaccurate? Some see her as a good model, some see her about as exciting as a pile of rocks. Doesn't mean an opinion is more or less right, especially when it comes to fashion as art.

I am in complete agreement with you. She has zero presence in front of the camera. If anyone needs a new ad campaign for Xanax I think this photo would be your best bet.

This cover makes me angry. Why and how on earth did they make one of the most stunning models look like a soulless, plastic doll? Not to mention the styling; they actually managed to make that Dior dress look cheap. Epic fail.

I like the colors and the dress too, although it doesn't fit her perfectly. But her face is a little bit uncregonizable, mainly because of the bad facial expression.

Man people sure are catty this month. She's a beautiful model, but this cover is awful and 1/2 of that is due to airbrushing. I can guarantee she had better shots than this.

I don't understand some people's hate for some models. If you dislike a model so much how about ignoring them? It's quite simple to do. I do it all the time.

LOL. Some people will never get it. I wish people weren't so subjective when "judging" models all the time. Don't blame Joan if you don't like the styling or hair. Why not bash the stylist, or Giampaolo, or even VJ's EIC. I actually like the cover, because it reminds me of a mid-00s Nippon cover. It doesn't knock me on the floor, and it really doesn't look like a December cover, but I still like it.
