For Japan to show tattoos on the cover is a breakthrough, I'm into it.
Sean & Seng is everywhere lately in a really good way.

Fashion really seems to be embracing tattoos lately. Interesting. I have always enjoyed them so I definitely do not mind. This cover is quite beautiful in its simplicity.

I didn't even notice the tattoos until they were pointed out, because I was too distracted by the beauty of the cover itself. A very solid cover offering from Vogue Japan, I love this. The colour palette is flawless, love those grey tones and the sense of minimalism and femininity.

I did not know of this change as I am not familiar with those editions. I have seen many of their covers and a few editorials in the past. Why did the edition go from Vogue Nippon to Japan? Very curious.

Not sure, but..it was part of the overhaul when Anna's role began to shift as CD for Conde Nast, superseding just her reign at American Vogue. I believe it happened around the time that Vogue UK was changed to British Vogue, and Vogue Paris changed to Vogue France. Soon after, other international editions popped up around the globe. So, I guessed it was more about globalizing Vogue as a brand, and allowing more distinct nature within each territory and thus edition.

I do not have exact timelines or dates, just noticed the shift happen over time one year.

I could be wrong, that's what I gathered based on observation as a reader.

The name change happened in 2011 after the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. I remember reading the rebrand was to give strength to the Japan identity and pay tribute to Japan as a nation in rebuilding after the disasters.

I could be wrong. I just know they sometimes have "british" inside the O, and other times they don't. I hadn't noticed it until a couple years back, and figured it was a slight change. But, it's seems inconsistent when I searched early 2000's covers.

Domestic copies are printed without the British O and international copies are printed with the British O.
