Vogue Paris March 2018 : Grace Elizabeth by David Sims

This issue is a little underwhelming for me. Nothing really stands out.

On another note, does anyone else think Othilia Simon looks a little like Vicky Krieps?

Looove that first shot in Glitter Fever. And Othilia

A nice issue on the whole. Some stuff I'm not interested in at all though. 'Glitter Fever' looks exactly like that Anja editorial, also by I&V in the Feb 2005 issue but I can't help but love the richness of the set, hair/make-up, styling isn't too bad from EA here. Lovely to see Madison back, was so mad after she faded from Prada F/W 2012. Some great images in Ethan/Edie's editorial, although some of her poses are far too static.

Thanks for posting Zorka, as always :flower:

A good issue. Not a real standout but it’s fine. I Cause Des Garçons is the definition of unnecessary tho. If Saglio is not willing to challenge herself, she would stick to consulting for brands.

Um, I actually like Grace/Sims ed. It's the kind of ed that would look better in print.

I wish it wasn't Edie in "A fleur de peau". The ed is lovely but her face is giving me nothing tbh :ninja:

I think the problem is not Saglio, she does a very good job at WSJ magazine. The problem is EA, she doesn’t let her and Celia do what they can do, she stick the girls with the worst at the magazine so her, Alexasandra and Anastasia can shine...

And if you look, the best work at this magazine in the last issues, is by Anastasia. She should be the editor in chief or fashion director...

Yikes, what's with all the studio shoots? Way too many for March! Any EIC worth her salt would've picked up on that. I'm also surprised how the cover edit ended up the key one. I mean, oversized jackets? Fair enough it's a trend, but the execution looks filler at best. And while I'll applaud Alt for showcasing fresh blood, everything still looks like it was either shot by Sims or I&V. The issue is fine for a normal month, but underwhelming for a March one. Yet another one I'll pass without any regret.

If she had any sense, she'd have used the Colls edit with Othilia for a cover.

Amazing contents !
Love A fleur de Peau, Imaan's and Saskia's stories, and always good to see Othilia even if I'm not found of her story

Vogue UK used a lot of studio shoots too...

My first impression was that Glitter Fever goes downhill after the opening shot, and ends up looking like a poor man's copy of a Vogue Paris editorial. But the more I look at it, the more I do like the rich colours... the quality of paper that this gets printed on will probably be the real deciding factor.

However, I'm generally no fan of Saskia's tomboy looks, yet I find her very compelling in those images.

Edie's editorial is absolutely beautiful. You can almost feel a spring warmth in that room, even though it was probably a cold and lifeless location. It's really what good styling and good photography is supposed to do. Saskia's ed is a close second for me.

For a second I forgot about Sims and thought Grace's ed was shot by Daniel Jackson  I think it looks more like his work.

I like Othilia's ed the most, but there's still something about her that bothers me (I just don't know what it is).

I also like Glietter Fever, this is what VP should be. It does look like Anja's ed from years ago but that one was better. Madison's a weaker model than Anja.

Don't care at all for Edie's ed and I don't like Imaan's either.

It's still their best issue in a LONG time.

Funny how the cover story is the weakest editorial here.
Glitter fever is good, perfectly Vogue Paris.
Othilia is such an amazing and underrated model, I would love to see her on the cover one day. Same goes for Imaan, even if this editorial is boring. I like the styling in Edie's ed.

I wonder, considering how close EA is to Karl, why she has never done an ed in one of Chanel’s insane set. The set from the SS18 show could have been perfect instead of the studio shots.

I don't buy into that friendship, Lola. Purely subjective, but I've never seen Alt's VP do justice to a Chanel collection. Never. Balenciaga, Balmain, Saint Laurent and of course her obsession, Isabel Marant got star treatment time and time again. I suspect part of the reason may be that it would be a bit difficult to fold Karl's Chanel into an 80's edit. Same applies to Dior.

Othilia? Madison? What is this 2012??

They had better images to pick for the cover. From the same editorial or Saskia's and even Othilia's who is very random but her ed could have worked for a wonderful cover (with another interesting model, Luna maybe :pink:)

Karl & Co. seems to have an aversion to using the Chanel sets for anything other than the presentation of the collection, which is all kinds of perverse and bizarre. I mean...surely it's crossed their minds at some point to stage a photoshoot/campaign within this palatial set they've built?

^I bet the Chanel ads would turn good, but very predictable.
