Vogue Portugal May 2025 : The Arts And Crafts Issue

I got excited for a sec with covers.
Yet again disappointed.

No proper reference to massive diverse craft work that is done in Portugal.
Not even Calçada craft was properly showed being how much this team glows over international eyes on issues.

For example, renda de bilros, various type of embroideries from different parts of country or even alentejo's weaving. Actually show the work and look like they made some research and wanted to actually promote it. With images, reports.
Looks so lazy.

Only artist that seems to have any type of work in craft is Joana Vasconcelos.

Plus as always, in a issue like this, it seems too much for issue to give some attention to Portuguese models, with Portuguese features, by giving a single cover. Or even Portuguese industry.

I personally liked the main story, focused on the city of Viana do Castelo, as a foreigner and a lusophile it’s really quite entrancing and fresh to my eyes, I’m so curious to visit northern Portugal. I do agree with @AFWQ on the one point about the model’s nationality and lack of further representation of the country’s craft, since my country’s Vogue has always suffered from that same problem and I understand how frustrating it can be.

I do wonder if they wanted the main model to represent Princess Ana, the mythical Princess that gave the town its name and whose description is similar to that of the model?

The blue editorial is a work of art. I also like the other one titled 5.
