So so SOOOO cute!
Thanks for posting those Metroicon, you totally inspired me.

I really like the pictures you posted, but generally the "houswife" look is stupid and frumpy.

I liked this at United Bamboo, fall 2005...

Nicely not-frumpy here... note the haphazard zippers...

marc jacobs pics are adorable. I haven't seen The Stepford Wives yet, maybe I should watch it for inspiration

No offense, but I don't really like it. It's cute, but very rarely, not my style.

actually I'm fond of it...no surprise there since I love 50's kitsch, rockabilly and whatnot. why not the 50's housewife too? :p
a few years back in my hometown there was a bit of an underground trend for wearing vintage aprons over everything from skirts to pedal-pushers - a very 50's/60's housewife-ish fuelled trend. I have to say I was charmed...in fact I bought a couple that I came across at thrift stores, though I never mustered the nerve to wear them outside of the kitchen. ^_^

btw I agree, stepford wives is a great film for inspiration.

I've seen some vintage aprons on my thrift shopping excursions..never bought one. Maybe I'll buy a couple and see how it looks.

I don't mind this look...its something that I would probably wear to work in a professional office type of environment. I like the Marc Jacobs and Ashish outfits.

I find the second outfits in the first post to be more 60's. I haven't noticed this trend so much and other than full skirts won't be participating myself.

sweet sweet sweet. i was waiting to be able to work that gingham print into my wardrobe!!! move over argyle!

I'm small and curvy so this look doesn't translate for me. Looks cute though.

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!! the whole Stepford Wives thing. I think its soo cute.
