I think it's a rather interesting look, a nice throwback to "simpler times." But when and where would one wear such an outfit? Seems dressed up yet informal.

Drive-in theatre? A diner with a jukebox?

Perhaps with some modifications the fundamental idea can be freshened up and adapted so that it fits in better with typical activities, or typical evening settings.
