Washington, DC Shopping

I've looked at pandahead and they do a lot of hipster-y looks...we need the sartorialist to come down and hang out in D.C.

btw dcist also does something similar but I feel like the lady doesn't really pick anything amazing.

still interesting to see a D.C. style blog though

I saw some interesting style when I was in Gtown over the weekend, some great uses of color.

That Pandahead really has no idea what's going on (except for you, lmelanie, you're perfection) I would do a DC style blog 1. If I had patience 2. If I still was in DC 3. If good style was readily available. It would be waaaay to much work.

I've been thinking of walking around with my camera and doing that too...but uhh...there's really no style in foggy bottom. Plus I'm preeetty sure peeps would get weirded out...

"hey...i like your style...can i take a picture and put it up on the internet for the whole world to see?"

...

we should start our own style blog hahaah. teach a thing or two to dc peeps. something btw hipster and k street.

Just got back from DC. I was surprised by how quickly shopping there became...boring (*gasp*). One good vintage store though was Annie Creamcheese, I think that's the name. Dunno if this was just a small representation, but black was such a dominant color. Seems like everyone wanted to feel like they were some VIP with their black power suits. And just out of curiosity, why is Tysons Corners so crowded?? It's just your typical suburbian mall.

Tysons One is always jam packed, ALWAYS, I cant stand it. Tysons Two is much more calm and sedate, too bad that there is such a limited selection, I already own everything I would want.

I would kill for an Armani, Vuitton, Dior, Fendi, BARNEYS. I would love a Barneys New York (not that CoOp sh*t they're cramming down our throats) to replace that Macys. That would really make my year...Also, it wouldnt kill that Saks to get something more interesting, because I cant stand thier selection. I did find a Dior Homme shirt for dirt cheap though, 80 bucks! That was far and few between the Dolce and Theory.

I hear you on that. I'm just surprised by the lack of selection in DC. You would think that a pretty major city would draw more stores, power houses. Oh and in general, Macy's just needs to disappear.

I KNOW, that's what I dont get! We have sooo much money to be disposed...We're the NATIONS capital. Throw us a bone! Give us a Barneys...

If CHICAGO can get a Barneys New York, we can get a Barneys New York. At least we have a Dior that carries womenswear...

Give us a Mikimoto...A Piaget...An Asprey...

At least we have 3 Ralph Lauren stores and 2 Hermes' locations.

Haha, definitely! Oh, and Chicago is getting a Marc Jacobs store and Vera Wang quite soon.

On a random note, when did tfs become an invitation only membership? Maybe b/c it doesn't affect me I've been oblivious to it?

What the hell?

Since when is Chicago more forward than we are...Vera would do well in DC, no?

 Looks like Chicago is pulling ahead then. But at this rate, any major store would do well in DC.

^ um i wholeheartedly support petition for a proper barneys in DC!!!! its ridic that i have to go to new york to get to one.

pink - tysons is like soooooo crazy. i HATE going there b/c the traffic is crazy and b/c everyone goes there and thinks its the shopping central, the selection gets generic and blah. tysons two is more sedated but also feels more like a museum than a shop.

Another great DC style blog is projectbeltway. It is better than panda head IMO.

Don't get me started on Tysons. Just getting there on any day of the week is a nightmare. In the last 5 years, it has gotten 10000 times worse. I usually only shop in the Galleria, but sometimes I want to go to Bloomingdales so I suck it up and head to Tysons 1. It's as if it is the only mall in the country, it is crammed with people. And the Galleria could really use some work. Saks and Neimans are so small in there, the selection is horrible.

Take me to New York or Paris!

Does anyone else find it annoying that Boston has 2 Barneys??

Agreed on the Tysons comments. Everytime I go there it's always jam packed. A few weeks ago when I went there, two guys were fighting in front of the Sephora, causing a scene. Plus, not too long ago, there was a stabbing, and also shooting at that mall. Pretty crazy.

I forgot that BOSTON the capital of FRUMP has TWO Barneys. FORGODSAKE. Close one and put it in Georgetown or Tysons!! Id love it in Chevy Chase too.

capital of frump is right..they even have 2 marc jacobs stores..and marc is putting in a new store in chicago to boot..wtf?!:yuk:

haha...sorry to bust up all your bubbles, but I was at Tysons corner Friday afternoon and it was pretty damn empty.

BTW! You peeps complain about boring shopping and you're all femme...imagine wat it's like for me!!

also...where are the Hermes?

and also again...I went to get a haircut at the Watergate and the YSL (whose doors were ALWAYS locked) has shut down. Not really bothered but yea.

dc dc

There's an Hermes out in Tyson's, I think on rt 7 - it's quite funny because next door is a chain restaurant, like a Chilis or something.

Occasionally I have seen some older people who are very, very well dressed in DC, I also wish there was a Sartorialist style blog here, that wasn't so much about hipster fashion..!

Hey, Shamigo, Im a homme!!

Im not surprised that YSL closed, they had the one at Saks Jandel not too far away. I really need a YSL that carries menswear, then I would never leave Maryland.

There is an Hermes out in "Fairfax Square" where Gucci, Vuitton, Tiffany's and Mortons is...Yea, Chilis is like 100 feet away...There is also an Hermes in the Neimans at Mazza Gallerie.
