Yes, the album was completely unexpected! As much as I like his folk sound, this new... 60s rockish alternative edged folk (I really can't think of how to better describe the sound of the album...) is something he's pulled off so well, that I, like I said before, just can't sit and listen to the old ones because I know I could be listening to his better songs on Cripple Crow. Not to say I don't
like his previous albums (Rejoicing in the Hands especially

), I just haven't been in the mood for them. I think Long-Haired Child is the one I like most, but I love the Simon Díaz cover as well, and Korean Dogwood is simply wonderful, as well as When They Come (which I've played over and over and over... the guitars sound amazing in that one), and Hey Mama Wolf.
