HiHeels - Where on earth did you get your name from?? Just laughing after reading your last post regarding footwear! I like your comfy outfit. I'm comfy today too ;)

now i'm laughing for the opposite reason - for how well your name suits you. :flower:

a. i have heels, and i will wear them once in a while and think that i can do in them what i do when i wear converse (walk all over the city), and i get blisters that keep me out of them for a month or 2.

b. my relationship with heels though does appropriately reflect my relationship with fashion. i've bought shoes just because they were truly beautiful objects (3.5 inch heel prada -- okay, those i did actually wear on a few occasions, but that's not why i bought them). clothing, for me, is not just about personal style, but also appreciating someone else's manipulation of it. some ppl only dress in one style and only approve of that one style. i can look outside of my own personal fashion expressions and feel really stimulated by someone else's.

c. sometimes i want to escape my self (my jeans and converse comfort self), and then i play dress up with heels and totally embody this very different style, and it's empowering to have that flexibility, and to explore the other 20% of my mind that doesn't usually get to pick what i wear.

susie, I love the way longish skirts look with boots:heart:

 Oh yes, HiHeels! Curious am I :D

Thanks for the thoughtful explanation. Good perspectives :flower:

louis boston doesn't carry ann dem? where is the barneys going to be? is there still that mini one in chestnut hill?

Surprisingly enough, no, they dont..They carry Dries VN, and they did/do have the Balenciaga line, but strangely enough, not Anne D..Oh well...The Barneys is slated to open in Spring '06 at Copley Square, right outside of Legal Seafoods...I think that small one in Chestnut Hill is still there, but there's really not anything there, last time I checked (in '03)..

OT: HiHeels--are you from here?

that's uncivilized. no ann dem. and i love LB. some boutique in cambridge might carry some pieces, but not homme i'm betting. not from, but i've lived there in the past, and visit frequently. thanks for the barneys tip. that's a good sign, that barneys is trying again. hmmm outside of the prudential ctr. then, vs. copely proper.

the weekend.. is over...

to make up for the rock excess of yesterday i chose dressing serious today and wearing a pony tail instead of the usual fringe kind of thing...:)
i also did it cos i wanted to wear my new coat for the first time today...

my outfit today:
-usual boots and jewelry...
-Armand Bassi (Spanish designer brand) black coat. i saw very similar coats by Zara and H&M at a much, much, much cheaper cost.. i got mine on Friday at a much more expensive deal so i hope it will be worth!;)
-D&G jeans
-Black long sleeved shirt from Urban Outfitters in NYC (cannot be seen on pic though)
-Missoni scarf

i swear it is me even if i dont look rock-y at all....OH!!! :)

Love, Sonny xxx

Thank you Hebden (that H&M shirt is so, so, so cute^_^),Quirky (thanks for trying for the Karma:)),Avantster,Clavdia (how come everybody here has beautiful vintage clothes? I should go to vintage stores more often!),ninetush,Trophy (I actually don't know if the Barneys will carry Ann Dem here considering the population and the taste in beantown...so don't worry :D I thought that the guy in the pic was you :( that top is so cool. detachable hoodies? great idea!) ,Sonny (your outfit today is beautiful. Did you change your hair style today? that scarf works so well with the outfit!)
Faust, I took out the two shoulder pads and I think the jacket looked 100 times better :D
wildcard, you look very comfortable yet stylish. Did you wear skinny jeans or stretchy pants?
Utopia, that jacket is so adorable! I love it!
Chanel, that top is beyond cute! I've been looking for a top that is "me"...my current project:D
Castor, that Tshirt is very interesting...I couldn't believe it was an Adidas:)
HiHeels, you look so comfortable...<3 those grays:) To answer your questions, Louis Boston dropped Ann Dem years ago. Alan Bilzerian carries Ann. There will be a new BNY in Copley mall to replace the movie theatre. How exciting!
Curious, very nice outfit. Did you get the cashmere sweater from Jcrew? How's quality?

great effort......

ha, ha, ha., adore.... not that much of an effort... in fact i dressed and did my hair like this cos:
a) i wanted to wear my new armand bassi wool coat today and
b) i had this awful hangover and i didnt want to take too much time doing my hair, ha, ha...it takes much more of my time and effort to look the usual rocky.. not that i mind wasting time in that though cos i love it the other way, ha, ha..

caffeine, thanks for your kind comment and yes, i did my hair different today... made the fringe disappear with this hairpin;) and tied the rest in a pony tail.. basically the hair style i wore until i was 14 or something! glad you liked it though!:)

and esp. thanks to Curious for saying i looked beautiful (just when i thought i looked far too old, serious and boring, ha, ha). seriously THANK YOU n i want you to know i love your teenie look today.. i have those type of teenie moments (dress wise) all the time myself! but you look better!

Luv, Sonny xxx

i really like this!

susie bubble- 2 very nice looks. doesn't matter that you're sort of repeating, i wouldn't mind repeating these outfits everyday!
tinetush-i like your vest-like outer blouse. i've been looking for something like that for the longest time!
trophybrown- nice hoodie!
Urd - u seem to have a never ending flow of long skirts! i think thats great though, especially the last one with the glitzy top.
this is me today:
this dress is from japan which i bought sometime ago. it's constructed just like a vintage dress - the thick cumberband, neckline detail, high waist (very very very very fitted) The problem is, i can't inhale too deeply in this dress too:doh: . but i love the way it fits and the print which is a green floral one.
u can't see my shoes, but they're red sandals
15nov3.jpg

the bag is vintage in my favourite combination of colors - red, blue and white

tang - finally see that new belt in action! nice!
urd - I love that white blouse!
utopia - very nice jacket! I like the pleats on the back
chanel - you just look so adorable! want to give you a hug
tinetush - I like that t-thingy you got!
susie - I like your second outfit. Something different than what I've seen you on before
Trophy - cool shirt! and where's your Cloak coat!?
sonny - another nice coat!
voodoo - another nice looking vintage dress~

sorry everyone but I still don't know what "give karma" does....anyone can help?

Thanks No1Here, goose, susie, Tinetush ;), clavdia, HiHeels, Sonny, Buckwheat and karmic benefactors

HiHeels, love the shirt/cardi/foulard combo, great geometry
goose, you described my problem with the belt, exactly. Looking forward to seeing your new belt.
urd, I love how you wore the scarf and necklace
Tinetush, v. nice, esp. like the "grey Sibin Linnebjerg t-thingy"
susie, I love the understated cool of the "toned down" version, and those Carvela boots are beautiful
bagsnthings, that sounds nice
Trophy, those outfits sound great
Sonny, I love your new coat and the way you wore it with the Missoni scarf and your hair back. Today you look like a movie star instead of a rock star!
Curious, really nice, I love that blazer, and those are cool Pumas!
voodoo mary, that bag is amazing!

The official thread about it is here

But, it's very long, so here's my idea of it in summary form:

You can give karma to people whose posts you feel have contributed something useful/positive to the forum. You will accumulate karma points when people give karma to you. There has been talk that these points can be used for something eventually, I don't know where we are with that plan.

What I mostly like about it is that you can write people little notes when you give them the karma, and it's nice to give and receive the karma and the notes. Kind of a warm fuzzy feeling
