Meg - I know - I am fairly flat in the bosom dept so it may be less than flattering! I think the v will be very low....My other concern with it is its length - 48inches which I think would be lower calf on me which again isn't the most flattering.

I don't think I'll get it because its such a hassle sending things back to yoox if they don't suit.....

i think the dress would be very good on you helena...
i saw the trousers you posted and i love the fabric...but i can't see the wiast clearly in that pic...is it the diagonal closure?... i think she did several styles in that fabric and also a less expensive version... but i think if it's the gold label we must be talking about the same ones...

i want them too!!!...wah!... can't get westwood over here...

actually helena I think the dress would be most flattering on someone who is more flat chested. If one is more full chested I think it would interfer with the draping and if you are more flat chested it will fall nicer and make you look more fuller if you want that.

actually softgrey they are in one of the editorials in uk vogue this month - as is a skirt in a very similar fabric (£280 for the skirt - which is the anglomania line). Maybe see if they have any in Jan when I am in london - I could let you kno whow much they are......

Yes I think I'll keep an eye on the dress & maybe get it if it goes down again.


Meg I am not really bothered about being flat chested - the intention is to wear the dress to all the dinners I have to go to & I do want to avoid being letched at by dodgy blokes. Even with my modest bust I'm afraid its difficult to avoid since women are so scarce at these events!!!!

Alex - yes it is just a case of slapping on the sticker I think but you have to organise the courier to come & pick up as well.... its just a bit of a hassle for me.....

Helena, the dress is lovely. Careful, Sophia cuts pretty damn slim...

Alex, the coat is nice, BUT like with a lot of Margiela items, I don't think it's anything too interesting - so if you have several coats already, think about it hard. If you really NEEDED a coat, I'd say go for it.

i echo what faust said....my friend is TEENY...and i really mean teeny...
and she is the onlyl one i know who can wear it...she has one of her skirts...
but it really is beautiful in person...beautifully made ...

her cuts from that collection are the way hussein chalayan's were...i think they have both adjusted...but it is very difficult to get a good patternmaker...etc...and when yuo are small...sometimes you have to switch factories each season to find one you can afford...so their is some inconsistency...

it's a big problem for sales..and i think a number of designers have finally just gotten this under control... i haven't seen her stuff this season as it is not hugely available over here...but i know hussein's stuff is much better now...

Its funny softgrey that there are a number of designers that you can't get over there - I thought you could get everything & anything you wanted in NYC.

yes I have a client who is a knitwear designer & she has a nightmare trying to get her collections manufactured in the small quantities she needs them in....

its a shame the small man always struggles....

we can get a plethora of things here and we do have an obscene selection of goods...but the avante garde is not what it used to be in the 80's for example...

downtown new york is still great, but it's been discovered by the masses and tourists who love paris hilton and wear uggs shop there as well as all the artsy types...so now there are just as many stores catering to them ...

the avant garde really does best in paris and tokyo these days...imo...

so buyers buy in a more conservative manner... plus, ny is just very competetive...so, many smaller designers just can't survive here...the rents are OUTRAGEOUS!!!...

many boutiques in soho closed after 9/11...but they're starting to come back...it's an evolution...
you can definitley see it moving though...

The outrageous rents are also driving boutiques out of the heart of Soho into what used to be a periphery. But, yea, it's not that bad, I agree. I guess for me A boutique patched up a lot of holes in my needs. I haven't seen the stuff they brought to New York by Ann Demeulemeester, Raf Simons, Poell, etc... But if it wasn't for that store, think about how under represented the menswear scene would be.

yes...i am generalizing and yes...there are exceptions...but it's a fair generalization...
for most american men fashion means banana republic...

if there was a market for the clothes...then they would be available... no?...i mean...any way to make a buck!!!
