What coat are you buying this winter?

bought a warm black wool short peacoat this winter... I love peacoats.

my latest is this very practical ysl cotton/shearling number (except in blue)- very KGB-ish and 40% off!

^ I love that coat, travis! I could go with either, but navy does sound perfect.

I'm having an impossible time finding a winter coat. Maybe i have impossible demands. I want it to be REALLY, REALLY warm and preferably wool--but I hate really heavy coats and feeling weighed down.

I normally don't like down but I was considering just buying a completely functional down coat from built by wendy because I'm so sick of being freezing.

This was my last year's coat just because it was on sale and for some reason Jill Stuart always fits me so, so well (Maybe because she's big in Asia? no idea) and her coats are very nicely cut... there was a really interesting cut on this--these sort of diamond/zig zag darts to get the big round flap of fabric that I usually pin closer to the top to keep warm

however...it's not the warmest coat in the world :(

By the way--it doesn't come with the belt. Looks much better without it.

Like Scott...I find everything that I can afford so boring...maybe I will just go totally functional.

wool always feels heavy to me..
why not try cashmere or a wool/cashmere blend? incredibly warm, incredibly light..

i got a really nice marc jacobs woolen coat for xmas

never thought id own something by marc jacobs

Just thought i'd revive this thread as seems a great one for us all to be thinking about just now... and looking myself so hopefully will get some ideas???

looking on ebay for a alpaca bargain just now!!!

Hi there WSG! Hope you are well:D:flower:!?! I found the prettiest camel hair coat from Hobbs of all places. The model is the Iden coat - very classic, very stella/celine - ish in it's simplicity - it fits like it was tailored for me and was very reasonably priced. I am not normally a Hobbs shopper and would have typically not strayed from my usual designer fare, but I found this coat more flattering on my small frame than the Chloe coats that I admired in the catwalk pics. Sorry I don't have a pic!

i wear a cheap leather bomber jacket right now most of the time in winter but is looking to get an authentic sheepskin aviator jacket. however im bit afraid the real thing will be too bulky for me...
love the burberry one but the price is scary.

i also have cute mink jacket my mom gave me...i dont like it very much. not a fur coat kinda gal. want to sell it

I guess i'm gonna have to go with a Canada Goose coat again this year... it's the only coat that can make me leave the house :D

Anybody have other ideas of VERY VERY warm winter coat ?

^ How about MUXU's fur... honestly I cant get past either a really thick wool coat or a fur coat when it gets really cold! Fur is such a great mix of weight to warmth too... honestly you wont look back... and loads of good buys on ebay if cash is short!

The canada goose ones are a bit like north face ones to me... ok if you are walking the dog... but they dont offer you any real style!

WSG xxx

It's true that Canada Goose it's not the most stylish , but few coat can beat the -40'C we have sometimes...

I tried to search for MUXU's coat but didn't find anything.... perhaps I didn't look at the good place ???

LOL... sorry she never posted an actual jacket... she just said she had a mink fur she didn't really want... sorry for the confussion... I think a fur might handle the cold a bit more stylishly than the canada goose

oh hehe, yea i didnt post any pictures. i dont have the coat with me anyways, it's in london and im in toronto at the moment.

i feel your pain feeclochette201. i wore this down feather parka throughout my teens for toronto winters. it's not very stylish and it does an ok job at keeping me warm, better than anything else i had. there arent that many choices for canadian winters. but im hoping a good sheepskin flying jacket will do the trick. if it was good enough for aviators in the sky, it's good enough for me.

as well, anyone know what men's jacket size 36 is in women's size? i found this great B-3 bomber but the company only makes men's sizes...:(
