What countries can I learn excellent Spanish from?

I still say Spain, gorgeous country and you're European right? Then you will like at home, that's the good thing about EU. Probably Spain has same sizes, same shops, same driving rules and you always have these European laws protecting you. Spain!

I've actually heard that Colombians speak the best spanish, linguistically. When I lived in Spain my professor said that Colombian spanish, you can understand it perfectly.

loll yeah he does

I really don't think it matters much where you decide to go as you will probably end addapting and speaking spanish with that place's accent.

I don't see anyway to decide who speaks the "best spanish" that is only going to be your personal opinion. And in my opinion it is Argentina, but for another it could be Spain, Mexico or whatever...

Is Argentina a place I would like to stay for 6months? Or would it not be favourable?

Would I be able to learn within 6 months, or be pretty good. What is it like there? I hear theyre not having such a great time right now?

I've always wanted to go.

Argentina is fabulous, Buenos Aires i's like the little NYC of South America. The people are amazingly good looking and it is the most European of South America. If you are there for 6 months of course you will learn, being in any country for 6 months you will learn the language. You are near to Brazil and Punta Del Este. When I graduate I am moving to Argentina for 6 months, just to relax and shop and have a fabulous time. By not doing well do you mean with money - - Things are very cheap in Argentina... the conversion rate is low.

Spanish in Spain is not all harsh - depends on the region. If you went to Andalucia - Malaga or Sevilla you would understand perfectly.

As for Latin America, I would recommend Venezuela, Mexico, Cuba or Puerto Rico.

I DARE any spanish speaker to liste to me speak ... Im the fastest of the fast ... and Im definitively improving in english ... hum ... We shud try like Skype on day *grins*

Funny, I find Andalucia's accent pretty difficult to understand, I mean, all that z's and stuff... But that's just me

Andalucia has the best accent, I love it.
As for my own opinion, I'd say Spain has the best accent and then followed by Argentina, I don't really like the other accents perphaps is because my Spanish friends think it is too much of "telenovela" accent and now since I learned there, I think it is too

Well I've been in alot of places that speak spanish my mom is from barcelona so it's like my first language and personally think that it could be very difficult for some to learn spanish from spain cause it's more strong than others, argentinian is the most beautiful I love it but also could be difficult , Colombian well I can never understand them  they use funny words.. I would say one of the easiest could be mexican but maybe it's because i've been living there for almost 2 years and Im used to it

Call me crazy but i say Spain. I went there to learn Spanish, first to the south in Cadiz then to Madrid. I had the most amazing time and wouldn't trade it for the world. And Madrid i pretty good for shopping.

Listen to ultramarine! Come to Costa Rica! Heheh. I don't think it matters where you go for the learning part, you will learn, just think about other aspects...like the weather, where you'd like to live, what other things interest you besides learning (art? architecture? nature?) so you can choose a place where you'll be happy. You know?

Good luck : )

I live in Argentina with my husband who is dutch. He has been studying spanish in Buenos Aires for one year now, and he was able to learn spanish without accent. He had a lot of class mates from Europe and America and they all love Argentina. I think you will not be disappointed.
Buenos Aires is called the Paris of Latin America. Of course it is not Paris, but it is chic and elegant, like any european city but full of latin and friendly people. And it is a great place for shopping too :-)

I've been to Mexico and Puerto Rico and found both their spanish easy to understand. IMO Puerto Rico has a softer accent plus Puerto Rico is US territory, so if you come from the US you don't need a passport and the currency is US dollars. I had a great time there, all sunshine, beaches, shopping...
