What is the "IT" Bag for Fall 2006

agreed!

the vasborg bags are brilliant in design, but the craftsmanship/quality is really lacking. i first saw them online about a year ago and loved them, but when i saw them at barneys they were horrible. i thought it was maybe because the store was in sale mode, so everyone and their dog had been playing with them, thus wearing them out or something, but that just seems to be the nature of her bags...

I think the sale makes a big difference, I saw a few of them when they were newly in at Barney's Co-op and the leather was very nice. The ones I saw were the off-white/pink "twist" bags, and they looked quite soft, non-distressed w/ an avante-garde vibe at the time.

I was going to get one but they are too funky for me... I've been trying to beat off the prep but alas, it's in my DNA. I've settled on a nice middle point now... ^_^

actually it's been spotted on quite a few celebs. i dont think the design is so bad.......i just dont like the price....

Oh I didn't know a lot of celebs have it. I only saw Jessica Simpson with it. But that doesn't matter. Tons of celebs walk around with :yuk: bags.
If it was "it" though it would be talked about more. I think it's not one of Prada's best works.

R.I.P., It bags.
Posted by Sarah

This week, Women's Wear Daily declared "Accessories are still fashion's driving force, but the "It" bag just isn't it anymore." Score one for individuality.

It's not that I don't love a good frenzy, or that some of the "It" bags of the past haven't been truly beautiful in their own right. However, if there's one thing that lunaboston has taught me, it's that it feels really good to define your personal style and to know that you're wearing or carrying something because it is "you", not because everyone on the street can name the bag and its pricetag. And, although "It" bags have usually been out of the price range of the general public, among celebrities and fashion insiders, once the frenzy slows a little and the satisfaction of acquiring the bag wears off, the piece itself often becomes a bit common and mundane. Fendi Spy, anyone?

And, although the story of "How did you get your hands on that?" can be fun to tell, I'd always rather the question be "Where did you find that? I've never seen it..." Sure, I may be a little biased, but I know that there are lots of trendsetters out there who are with me on this one! May you all join me in celebrating the downfall of the "It" bag...
