What is the "IT" Bag for Fall 2006

^^ ew, sorry, but i think thies is really ugly...looks like made for the army

It looks like a Dior Cannage and a Stam had wild monkey sex and this was the result!

(it's not bad, but not really my style tho)

I <3 the Marc jacobs Stam bag ! I want it for so long i guess it will be totaly has been when i could finaly get it this winter... I guess i'll have to find another trendy and cute bag ... maybe the huuuuge YSL one ? don't know yet !

thats the problem with "it" bags unless you are super rich, always chasing the dream, and honestly alot of people think you should be able to whip it out in later years thinking it'll be a classic again once everyone forgets about it, but no, people will be like thats that bag from _____ years ago???, i can't think of many "it" bags that have that durability, maybe the hermes bags but i think those are played out though still popular, and i hate the speedy, can people get over that one already

ugh yeah SO OVER those for sure.

I love the kisslock look, too.
I have to confess - I was kind of liking a "Juicy" bag for the first time - the "it girl" bag. it's a frame bag with kind of a fugly 80's vibe - but it's quirky and I like that.

There's a fabulous charlott vasberg bag I am dying to get my hands on but I think it's for S/S 07. I NEED TO BUY THESE FOR MY STORE!! It's a frame style. and it's gray leather which I am loving this season. I wish there were more light gray leather bags.

pic from charlott vasberg

wow, it's like an enlarge MJ bag.... here's one i have but it's a clutch

libby bee I saw these at barneys today and I found the leather really plasticy, I'd try to see the irl before committing to buying a ton.

thanks for telling me! That's a huge consideration.
I love the color. I wish I could find a great gray leather bag. I love the look of this one.
Yeah I think Barney's is the only place in the states that has them?

Wish I still lived in NYC...... :(

i dont know what the IT bag is- but I'm definitely loving the Burberry Manor. Anyone else with me there?

i think the prada coffer is gaining popularity slowly....a bit like the stam did back in the day. it wasn't off the shelves right away....

I don't think were going to see any big IT bags any time soon. I think that was a very specific fashion moment and while there will always be popular bags its going to be awhile before the IT bags come again. Particularly because every designer is trying hard to come out with something that will be IT. These things need to happen organically. The amount of celeb exposure with bags has gotten ridiculous and I think consumers are savvy to that. Dare I say it celeb exposure could potentially hurt a bag. No chic woman or streetsmart girl really wants to see her bag in the hands of a Hilton sister or some tacky WAG. Designers give out way too much in terms of celeb freebies and now even the most unfashionable of celebs seems to get their hand on these supposed IT bags. Its very off putting at least from my stand point.

I think what were going to see now is a slow build of unique designs that may not come from the biggest or splashiest houses. More of a word of mouth growth or a "oh whats that bag" moment instead of a "Oh yes that's the Paddington." I look at the way Goyard slowly but surely started appearing on the arms of chic women in the know or how the Derek Lam bags started popping up around Manhattan even before Rachel Bilson showed up with one. I think were going to see more of that and less of an import placed on which monogrammed monstrosity Jessica Simpson shoves in our faces.

At least I hope so. As for popular bags this season. I think The Muse is going to be around forever but now with more of a focus on the exotic skins and patent leathers since Muse lovers have already got their leather versions and now want something different. Likewise Balenciaga will continue to be incredibly popular with the new styles & leathers coming out. I've seen alot more women carrying Ediths in this month than I've ever seen before which is very interesting and I think the opening of a stateside Mulberry flagship store is going to have some very interesting results as well.

I say I don't care, because I don't really understand the whole 'It bag' thing. Surely there is no one bag that is 'It'

I do like it. And you know, just for Asia (or was it for Singapore only), you can custom-make the bag in the kinds of leather and colour you want. You can even emboss your initials on it. But limited to only 20, iirc, bags.

agreed!

the vasborg bags are brilliant in design, but the craftsmanship/quality is really lacking. i first saw them online about a year ago and loved them, but when i saw them at barneys they were horrible. i thought it was maybe because the store was in sale mode, so everyone and their dog had been playing with them, thus wearing them out or something, but that just seems to be the nature of her bags...

awwww
that's not cool. I really like that frame bag.
they aren't super cheap (as far as cost) so one would hope that the would be better quality!
