What Is Your Favorite Hotel?

Le Meridian in Minneapolis MN is amazing... a little odd but I was just there for business and it was lovely...

The Royal Palm in Mauritius!

It's not only a gorgeous place but the service is wonderful. They are so friendly and caring.

When we first showed up I was telling my boyfriend how I was craving some chocolate. I didnt think anyone had heard me at the time but I guess the guy at the front desk heard me.

With in the first 10 minutes that we were in our suite someone knocked on the door. I went and opened it and there is a guy holding a HUGE gist basket of 4 big chocolate bars, chocolate spreads, fudge, and 3 boxes of assorted chocolates.

It was all for me! :woot:

I thought it was such a nice gesture that I wrote the president of the hotel chain to tell him how great his employees were.

Thanks, I'll have to stay there next time.

I have yet to travel anywhere except in the U.S. and Mexico... my vote goes to Ritz Carlton in KC. Maybe 'cause it was on the club level and I could have slept in Bono's bed 'cause U2 had stayed on the same floor the week before.

the coolest and most exquisite hotel i've ever stayed at is the Ritz Carlton Millenia in Singapore. I especially loved that there is a huge window in the bathroom in every single room and that you have an amazing view over the city while you're in the bath tub. i think they're calling it "the worlds sexiest bathroom" .. :P

and if you happen to be on the lower floors everyone gets to see you bathe?

Last month I stayed in Hotel Chelsea in NYC. It's probably much different from most of the hotels you guys posted. Posh & expensive have nothing to do with it! It's run down and kind of trashed -- there are actually bullet holes in some of the windows -- and that is why there is no hotel just like it in ambience. I didn't know there was a whole history to it when I stayed there, but I guess it's an NYC cultural landmark because a lot of the famous eccentrics lived there. I think the Sex Pistols used to live there, which makes a lot of sense to me. It's totally the kind of place that you can imagine being associated with anarchy and Westwood and Maclaren and seditionaries and antifashion. The beatnik poets also, and Hendrix and Dylan.

But I didn't know any of this when I stayed there! I had been looking for an inexpensive hotel to stay in for hours, because I have no idea how to get around in NYC. So I walked past and it had this old neon sign that said Hotel Chelsea, and it was really dumpy and I was afraid that it wasn't even safe, but I was so exhausted that I decided to go in anyway. The lobby has all these weird art pieces that I was too tired to look at. The owners check you in and they are so creepy! They look and sound like they belong in a horror movie. Anyway it was this horribly scary hotel for me and I spent the entire night awake and scared out of my mind, on the phone with anyone who would stay up with me. I didn't know that the creepy atmosphere is part of the experience of staying there! But at the same time, the creepy atmosphere is authentic, because there were murders and eccentric people there in the 70s.

I've been there...and yes wonderful service...I got spoiled. :innocent:

Another great hotel/villa there is the Belle Mare Plage. The privacy of opting for the villa was great, the service is kind, and the beach is right there...I  Mauritius.
