"What Not To Wear"
?
if you've seen it, what are your thoughts about Stacy and Clinton, and their choices of clothes?

I have seen the show, and I like it. I think the hosts choice of clothing lean towards the classic look. The outfits dont have so much personality, they just seem really cookie cutter, but then again, the people they are making over are usually people that dont have any idea about fashion, so they give them workable rules... As they get comfortable with them, they can add, liven and personalize their style.

I think it sucks. They choose overly-trendy, tired clothes for the most part.

Well there are two versions. I quite like the american version. I think the hosts do a good job of giving people a functional warddrobe and I think finally there is a mainstream show that shows how fashion can change people lives or outlook at themselves. I don't find the clothes overly trendy at all. And you can see different peoples personalities come out in things. As well, sometimes with these sorts of people it's hard enough to get them into a store period, let alone a store where they feel judged and the clothes are avante garde. I think that would be expecting way to much.

I agree.
Hopefully it'll make people more aware of the way they dress...

I've always loved this show. I remember watching it a few years back and falling in love.

They really do change the way people think about clothes and it genuinely seems to help people feel more confident about themselves.

They have a book out called What you wear can change your life.....
I've never seen either version though, I don't think they've been on tv here. I would love to be given a makeover and taken shopping though! What a blast! There is supposed to be a Queer Eye for girls or something isn't there?

well, i have seen it, but i can only agree with AlexN....i was not overly impressed...

I like it. The 360 degree mirror part is hilarious! And I wouldn't mind getting $5000 to spend either :innocent:

Bump.

Even my father likes to watch this show!

The problem my mother has with this is that most people look the same. And sometimes they do. They don't truly help these people find their own style. But Clinton and Stacy are very positive and supportive, and I think they truly help people feel better about themselves on the inside first.

I love this show. They had a marathon on TLC today and I watched like 4 episodes, lol.

Stacy and Clinton are really great and they give practical, valuable and very NECESSARY advise to the people. My only concern is that I don't know if these people get enough clothing considering they were just made to throw away all of their existing clothing. I mean, I realize 99% of the existing pieces are trash anyway, but still.

Also, watching the episodes today, I noticed that Stacy had a gray streak in her hair at the front of her head. That's definitely something NOT TO WEAR.

^ I'm sure you mean well but if memory serves me correctly, streaks like that appear due to a stroke or excessive stress. Streaks like that are dead hair and usually can't be dyed to look like the natural hair color. :flower: But I doubt Stacy would do it on purpose.

There are about 3 other threads about this show. :p I saw an episode today where a woman lost her breasts due to a masectomy, and the duo helped her dress her chest to appear as if she had a chest. Very emotional because yes, valuing yourself and dressing well can give you an asss load of confidence.

OMG, I feel so terrible now. :(

Thank you for letting me know, I had no idea. I wasn't sure about that because she seems too classy for that sort of thing. Hope she's well because I love her.

From Stacy's wikipedia page:

She is well known for her trademark natural gray streak in the front of her hair which she has had since she was eleven; her Pantene contract includes a clause that allows her to keep it.
