I'VE GOT NOTHING TO WEAR is an interesting mix of other fashion-oriented reality shows before. Part Project Runway and part What Not to Wear, this series focuses on people with specific fashion challenges and hooks them up with a new wardrobe, primarily working from the clothes already in their closet.

For example, in one episode a young woman planning a three-week business trip needs help finding outfits that can work in many different contexts so she doesn't have to pack too much. Stylist Jorge Ramone examines her wardrobe and chooses which pieces to keep and which to have altered at the "chop shop." The stylist and client have a gentle tug-of-war as favored items get picked for redesigning.

Once clothes are taken to the shop, three talented fashion design students spend the next three days reworking them. Under the guidance of Fashion Institute of Technology professor George Simonton, one turns a pair of pants into a cute top, while another cuts up a favorite embroidered shirt and turns it into a clutch bag.

After the stylist takes the client shopping for a few new pieces to spruce up her wardrobe and assembles a "look book" that will help her pair separates and accessories, the instructor, stylist, and client meet to look over the custom redesigned clothes. The designers watch on a monitor as the client oohs and aahs over the clothes and eventually chooses her favorite.
Despite the drive to have their piece singled out, the competition between the young fashionistas is friendly and encouraging, not nasty or catty. Overall, I've Got Nothing to Wear is a pleasant fashion reality show that would benefit from a little streamlining/reworking of its own. Some of the concepts don't quite fit -- like the lack of attention paid to the practicality of some of the clothes that are ostensibly intended for a business trip. Nevertheless, a harmless fashion show is always a fun diversion.

Has anyone seen this show yet? It started at the end of June on TLC. Some of the design students that they choose to help the candidates have some great talent. It is really interesting to see what they come up with for the every day woman.

I saw a commercial for this show! It looks really good and I want to watch it! Has anyone seen it?? What did you think?

It is a pretty good show. I like that its not about buying a new wardrobe but refreshing a previous one. the designers on the show are very talented, considering that most of them are graduates from F.I.T. The outfits that they come with are so fresh and lively, I guess im hooked on the show.

casting, yes I saw it. The designers are very talented. Its neat to see how they can take a pair of pants and make them into a funky dress. Some of the peices I saw on the show I really liked, like a standard old bulky blazer that was turned into a form fitting cropped blazer w/ a ruffle blouse underneath.

There was a designer that left the design studio to go watch cartoons everyday. His work was way too costumey and did not transition very well for everyday wear...at least for me. I know I wouldn't have been caught dead wearing his outfits. :ninja:
