What will you wear this summer instead of flip-flops?

I will still wear flip flops to the beach...

But anywhere else I will either where flats (ballet flats:heart: ) or slides...

:p

It's hard for me to go through the summer without flip flops. Usually I'm extremely casual during the day, so flip-flops serve me just fine. Otherwise, if I'm wearing something nice, I go with a rhinestone flip-flip, or kitten heels.

I hate flip flops! I only have some for the beach, but usally just go barefoot there.

My alternative is nice designer sandles for day to day wear in hot weather. I got a pretty pair this season by Donald Pliner in silver croc. I think there are cheaper alternatives at places like Nine West or Aerosoles.

I virtually live in flip-flops!

I guess to glam it up, I will be probably alternating them with flats, or sandals - I got a pair from Bernado which are really comfortable and cool.

According to about everywhere- wedges. Specifically with cork or straw bottoms.
:crush: Some of my Marc Jacobs favourites...

Some other options, from style.ca:

This season, shoes lurched from one extreme to the other. Designers were definitely on a high with traditional summer footwear—wooden or cork wedges and straw-bottomed espadrilles. The wedge, which appeared in various guises in almost every collection, is set to be spring’s winning style.

Both Marni and Etro chose chunky bottoms made of wood. Trend Les Copains, meanwhile, showed closed-toe, cork-bottomed wedges with perforated cream uppers edged in red piping. Anna Molinari opted for bright red wedges, and DKNY went for sophisticated ‘40s versions sporting T-strap details.

Flats were the other runway favourites. Prada turned its back on last season’s sparkle and pushed the humble penny loafer as the footwear of choice for spring. Meanwhile, at Chanel, sparkly dresses got a practical spin with ultra-flat sandals.

I hate wedges. They are so hobo 70s. I'll leave them for the salvation army! I like wedges when they are 40s beach style, but that is not how they are wearing them usally.

yes, hate hate hate hate hate! >:) <this was supposed to be a devil face, but I'll settle for a smilie too.

*veruca salt like tantrum*

with jeans and sundresses.

It helps too if your workplace has a casual dress code... ;)

as usual, keeping my flip flops for the house and the beach..
anywhere else, its espandrilles time, same as last summer
and the occasional flat sandal (if i find a decent one that is...)

I almost never wear flip flops. I wear some kind of flats instead. And at the moment birks are my love, I don't know why I haven't worn them before

Purple those marc jacobs are very cute

I wear flip flops most of the time, they are comfortable and go with everything (always casual clothes, of course).

But I'm going to wear flat sandals too, if I find a pair that convince me, and ballet flats, althought it's sometimes too hot for wearing them.

I hate flip flops, or any sandals with things between my toes. I just have 1 pair for the shower at college and the beach. I wear ballet flats all the time.

birkenstocks hands down. (the original one with the two straps going horizontally across your foot.) They are sooo comfortable! After a few hours flip flops give me blisters (ouch) so i prefer Birkenstocks...if you think they're ugly...put it this way...you dont have to look at them...its everyone else that has to. :D

ballet shoes, of course. ;) last year old navy sold them in all different colours for only about $6 - the same price as a pair of flipflops, so I stocked up on about five different colours, though I usually only wear the black. I also have a couple of vintage pairs, though I don't wear them much either. (not so comfortable...)
I have a couple of pairs of cute sequined flip-flops, but I really do feel like I have duckfeet when I wear them now, because I'm become so accustomed to how petite ballet shoes make your feet look. so, I think flip-flops will be relegated to the beach and the lazy day for me. I do have a pair of black braided leather thongs that I have been wearing a lot lately, but somehow they don't seem to fit into the 'flip-flops' category...they're a bit more chic and pulled together.

Flip-flops seem like the easy way out of everything, kind of like the equivalent of jeans (except I love jeans...). Flip flops have a "When in doubt, wear me," type of attitude.

I prefer to plan my outfits, so I rarely wear flip-flops anymore...

hopefully I'll have time and money to go buy some alternatives because I really don't like flip flops but I do wear them still:(

I try to wear flipflops everywhere... I LOVE them...! Another option is the teva, comfy and durable.. they are not sexy or charming but great for summer walking.

Actrually I introduced my niece to flipflops last week, she was giddy that she didn't have to wear tennis shoes that she had to tie, plus as she said, "they come in all these pretty colors"
