What's Your Favorite Fashion Magazine & Why?

My favorites now are Vogue (British) and Elle (Serbian). I'll try not to miss an issue this year. I hope the covers will be as amazing as they have been for the past 4 months.
I used to love Cosmopolitan (as you can see my post from 3 months ago, lol), but my taste sort of changed. I'm an Elle-Vogue person now. :)

1. W is definitely my favourite magazine. I love the editorials. Really gorgeous! Especially the march & sep issue. Little Thing Magazine => A Chinese magazine with surprisingly high quality of editorials, articles and wonderful layout. The style of this magazine is quite similar with Lula and SO En. Definitely my cup of tea.
2. Love => this magazine is just awesome! There are lots of work of renowed photographers and models! Lula => I have never read this magazine but it seems really nice! I love its dreamy and girlish style! Hopefully I can get one copy in future.

3.Vogue Italia => Although the content is wonderful, it is so costly. I will buy it for march & sep issue with lots of supplements(couture!)
4. Vogue China => Affordable. The articles are great, however the quality of editorials are variable.
5. Vogue Britain => Again, the quality of editorials and covers are variable. I used to buy this magazine few years ago. Recently, this magazine totally lets me down.
6. I-D => I love the themes and multi covers.

Best magazine

I was talking with seome of my friends and we are wondering what is the best fashion magazine. What do you think?

I'm feeling significantly less love for US Elle following the change in editors ... it used to be my favorite for articles.

Oh, tell me about it! US Elle used to be my favourite read among the mainstream glossies. I loved Robbie Myers' direction, beyond the fashion though. You could rest assured she'd turn out a cohesive issue with painstakingly relevant features. The features team under Robbie is still there. Let's see how it goes.

When it comes to longform features, Vogue Australia's standard is pretty good as well. The Gentlewoman and Fantastic Man, Porter (despite the American English), Tatler & Town & Country just for their unapologetically snobbish yet humorous content. And British Harper's for their imagery, obviously.

I'm also slowly getting fed up with the lack of zeitgeist in Vanity Fair.

^ There are still some good articles in US Elle, but I get a strong whiff of narcissism from the editor's page :ninja: When I saw 'Louise Linton is Super-Duper Sorry' I rolled my eyes, but it was well-written and not what I was expecting.

I'm putting up a wide list of magazines I find interesting for a personal project and I was wondering how many great fashion publications are there that I never even heard of? So my question for all of you is...

What are your favorite magazines with their main focus on fashion? What magazines do you think have the top quality fashion contents? Which are the best produced? Which magazines do you consider underrated for their great contents?

Doingbird is very underrated imo. I don't think they're still in print.

OFFICE has some good fashion stories and also interviews that are underrated I think! Also Last magazine is pretty good..

My ultimate number one is still Vogue Paris, always has been and always will be. No matter who's on the cover, what the theme or direction of the issue is, I'm always excited to see the issue in person and wonder what we'll get the month after.

I used to buy and love so many magazines each month, everything from Vogue Japan to i-D but definitely do not purchase half of them nowadays. I only get British Vogue, British Harper's Bazaar, Porter, Vogue Paris, Vogue Italia, American Vogue and American Harper's Bazaar every month now, religiously (which still sounds like a lot when compared to most others). I do feel as though I could do without VI and I'm slowly starting to go off USV and USHB but keep telling myself I'll regret it after all these years of collecting.

I'm heading out in search of German Interview. I love their irreverence, daring covers, colorful bold imagery, and that certain joie de vivre, that's missing from so many of today's fashion magazines. When they change their logo or layout, I get the sense it's out of the desire to experiment and try new things rather than desperately pandering to a shrinking readership. Yeah they've got their share of trashy millennial geared editorials with that signature I'm so original vibe but overall I appreciate it's mix of avant-garde meets classic, accessible imagery and themes, much like vintage American Interview, NYLON, PAPER, Kate Betts era BAZAAR.

I remember when I saw Vogue Spain cover of Dree Hemingway and a baby photographed by Bruce Weber my heart stopped. I’m not a Weber’s stan anymore because of the things that happened this year but I’ll always feel the special connection with that picture. I don’t have any particular fav, but I have my favorite covers and those are my treasures -lol right? - Everymonth I buy Vogue Mexico and USA -if I’m lucky, Spain too- because are the only ones that I can find in my city. Another magazine that I like is Vogue Italia -I prefer Franca’s era-, Paris -under Carine- and now I’m living for Vogue Portugal covers -Crystal’s cover is one of my top 10- but I can’t find them in my coutry.

Used to bought Bazaar and L’Officiel Mexico but they lost their quality content.

Also, I used to like W -recently bought the Madonna’s by Klein issues from years ago- and I found a library which sells import magazines buy they are a little bit expensive and I recently bought CR -my mom fell in love with Lakeith’s cover- and Love and I really liked them. I can’t wait to have an Interview, Another, Man about town, V Magazine or Vogue Paris/Italia/Portugal issue because I find them fantastic.

It always makes me happy reading about your magazine collections! I'm personally struggling to build one as I'm completely mad about fashion in print, there's just something magical about it. Especially if we look back in time where there were no limitations regarding political or social issues - when fashion was just fashion, a form of art where everyone expressed exactly how they wanted without the fear of social judgement, the daring era. One Franca excelled at. Also Anna's dreamy vintage Vogue editorials, the sexy VP (who's still got most of it's original charm) and all those amazing vintage i-D and Numéro covers.
Earlier this year I started a project, putting together a wide list of magazines I love and some new ones I found interesting which is why I asked you the question about your favorites. Then I started making an archive for each magazine hunting down all the covers from the past and all the basic info; it's time consuming but pretty fun to do in the free time.

I intend to print them out and use them as an organisation tool, marking the magazines I have and the ones I want to buy for my collection, eventually buying every issue ever (I can't help but dream, lol!). As I have no access to any fashion magazine other than local Elle edition, I usually buy them in bulk when I get a chance or when I decide to spend all the money I have and buy separate issues on eBay, lol. So far I have a bunch of Vogues, mostly American and Italian including my favorite issues like the Black Issue of VI or October 2010 of VP (with the supplement ). My favorite editions of Vogue overall would be Italia and Paris, vintage Italian especially and from what I've gathered in my project, a lot of old i-D and Numéro which had some of the best covers! Vogue Japan also has an appealing vibe, but I don't own a single issue of it.

So now I have another question for all of you, where do you buy your magazines? When shopping online for magazines which sites do you prefer? Also wondering about buying vintage magazines, where do you look for them?

I miss Lula magazine... it was very consistent. the content was very nice, the editorials were quirky, I remember that catching the cover of Charlotte Gainsbourg was like finding a hidden gem. Too bad the magazine was dead because the Pixie girl theme wouldn’t fit the idea of the feminism nowadays.

For the humour and wit, Tatler is always a staple, it's just a good one to sit down with and flick through. Japanese Vogue is great for all the little free gifts and beautiful pictures too. Numero, AnOther, Dazed and Vogue Italia for editorial content ... while i read Marie Claire, aussie Bazaar and British Vogue more for the articles. T magazine is great too but hard to find in Australia. I also love collecting L'officiels from different countries just because they use a lot of smaller and up and coming creatives and the cover stars are a bit more unexpected.
