I am curious, I know a lot of models go to work in Japan (Asia) and I'm wondering which models are most popular there?

Elise Crombez is featured in a lot of Japanese ads. But Gemma Ward and Jessica Stam actually have dolls modeled after them. They have huge heads and little bodies with all their features. There was a pic of the "Jessica" doll in a Vogue Japan, I'll try to post it.

Does anyone know if Laetitia Casta was popular in Japan? I am just starting to model and everyone says I am a mix of Laetitia, Natalia V, and the aliens and I LOVE Japan and would like to model there!

I know that Natalia is on billboards a lot for l'Oreal in Asia in general. They even dub over her voice into mandarin when I'm back in Taiwan. Those commercials freak me out because I'm so use to hearing her heavy Russian accent when she's speaking. >_<

Oh and Kemp Muhl, I've seen her in lots of commercials there as well. I don't know about her in Japan though ~

It pertains to a Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan and certain parts of China though not as much. When I go back to visit, the first comments I get from people are usually "Wow, you're so tall!" and "Wow, you're skin is so white!". There is a bombardment of whitening cream advertisements there... I think all my friends from there all own at least a couple. Girls don't go into the sun unless there's an umbrella or at least good sunscreen. I get yelled at by my parents when I do ...

I still find it so ironic that everyone there is obsessed with staying out of the sun while people here are constantly trying to tan. I once saw a girl on a beach hiding herself under a jacket. Why you ask? --- because she didn't want her skin to darken. Why go to a beach at all if you can't enjoy your environment?

um... i dont think foreign normal models have a status over here, but well... it's always local starlets (eg Kelly Chen) or u have to have some relations (eg Riley Keough - sp?) to be big over here and yes, those Natalia V ads for L'Oreal is everywhere!
