Who defined style in 2005?

as much as people keep saying sienna does "her own thing".
she uhh..doesnt.
her styles nice but i mean its the same exact thing as Kate's.
Kate Moss has been doing it for years, i don't care how many mags millers
been, she will never surpass Kate.

couldn't agree with you more. karma for you:flower:

Do you guys think that Dita Von Teese is in the running for this? It's a good decision of hers to stay away from Boho and stand out, unintentionally.

She always defines trends FOR me, but I dont think, that she has influence on the majority (sorry for my english)...

i think there's nothing wrong with the boho look, unless you're wearing it just to look boho then there's absolutely sometihng wrng with it...kate's personality is really boho so it was natural for her...but sienna just doesn't have the boho spirit to back it up....

Where I live people (or or at least most people)don't copy celebrities so no one defined people's style here. At my univertity for instance people have just keep on with their own style and incorporate some new items but there wasn't a big change of style . I think most french women do that actually. When I went in London this summer however the influence of Kate/Sienna was obvious so I'll go with Kate since she's boho at heart and has always been even though people copied Sienna more.

Que es le boho spirit, then?

You should visit the treads dedicated to Anita Pallenberg, Jane Birkin, Marianne Faithfull, or Kate Moss and Vanessa Paradis for a more modern version of Boho. The boho of this summer was very plastic and/or cheap because it was done by people who aren't free spirited and don't live a boho style. Boho must be laid back AND elegant. A lot of people thought that boho equal sloppy or did it in a too contrived manner.
Bohemian Chic is a wonderful style but it's been totally ruined. This summer was a catastrophe.

well aside from sienna and kate, i think bonafide socialites made a lot of noise this year from margarita missoni to lauren davis to the traina sisters...

jennifer aniston? oh my god dont make me laugh!!!!!!

she is SO boring.

It's sort of sad, but the stars who end up defining "star style" tend to be the ones with lots of candid photo exposure--and you often get candid photo exposure b/c you're involved with some non-fashion-related controversy. For example, Sienna Miller and Kate Moss both have been around for awhile and have definitely done their "look" for awhile, but there's a renewed interest in them and they have new style fans because so many people have seen them in the tabloids recently (Sienna b/c of the Jude Law Mess, Kate b/c of the cocaine controversy). The same can be said for MK Olsen over the past two years, with all the controversy surrounding her. And Rachel Zoe's "look" certainly got a boost with the Nicole and Lindsay anorexia rumors (which seem to be everywhere), as well as all the Jessica Simpson marriage coverage.

Shouldn't the Olsens or the Rachel Zoe clones take the place of Jen Aniston on that poll?

well said Jadee ;)

not sure which celebrity decently defined trends this year.. maybe Sofia Coppola? or even Angelina Jolie?

Kate Moss is somehow better dressed than all those mentioned in this Poll..

^And the reason most people think that Sienna defined boho is because she was doing it at the same time the rest of the world caught up with it and the real style innovators had diversified their look because they had already been disgusted by the copycats (e.g Miller).

Look at what Sienna Miller is doing now.... she is trying on the Kate Moss 2005 look and by the time she manages to get it right (probably sometime next year) the rest of the world will be there too and she will represent the trend... she is just trendy and by no means a trend setter (IMO she manages to overwear and destroy the trends she tries her hand at)
To me Kate Moss does it better because despite borrowing from past fashion icons she always manages to create the same allure around her and exude her attitude through her fashion.... she wears it first and the rest follow a couple of seasons later...

And plus, everyone's been following Kate's style since the mid-90's.... anyone that knows or cares about fashion anyway.... So we always follow her, this year was no exception.

Sienna just happens to be 'more' in the 'public eye' because she was with Jude, so to regular folk nobody knows what the big deal is about Kate.

moss just got the 'stylish of 05' award of the year from Grazia mag
