Who loves Black Halo Dresses?

i feel like $300+ for poly blend is pretty crappy IMO. the fit is great though. the wholesale prices on these dresses is $150-$170 so the retail markup is pretty big.

Karta dresses are 100% polyester and people love them. They also sell in the same price range as BH. So it's really a matter of choice and opinion.

Roland Mouret dresses are in the $2k and $3k price range and the majority of the dresses are acetate/silk or wool blends. They are exquisite none the less.

BH dresses are just well made period, they fit like a dream and despite all the copies out there (you can get a $79 copy at Zara), they can't seem to duplicate the construction of the BH dresses.

Retailers have a lot of expenses that come with operating their stores, hence the markups etc.

You can always get a size 6 and get it tailored to fit you perfectly. I do this all the time, just make sure you take the dresss to a proper dress maker, so it's perfect.

The attached photos show a model in a size two black halo dress. Her waist size is 25.

Thanks Ladyee and Hanne for your input! I considered getting a size 6 and getting it altered but didn't know whether it was worth the cost of alterations. We'll see about the whole thing.

this is probably a very silly question so pardon my ignorance...but what is the definition of a black halo dress?. is it a brand? a style?..i've just never heard of it before..

I love the look of many of the black halo dresses but I have only tried on one. I bought the Jackie O in amber from revolve. The blend I got (called prada twill) is really forgiving and stretchy and I think the size varies depending on the fabric used.

I like this one from asos.com

It's silk as well, but tis still waaaay out of my price range.

I just got a Black Halo dress (the "Rita" sheath) and liked it much more than I thought I would. For those who are wondering about the sizing, it fits true to size, but I think the cut is more flattering for women who are apple-shaped (fuller on top) or pencil-shaped because of how fitted the skirts tend to be. I am pear-shaped, so the bottom half of the dress fit me but I have to take the top in. If you look at the model, you can see that the dress really accentuated her bottom half also.

The Rita sheath looks fabulous on you LibertyRose and you're so spot on about the sizing. I also have the Rita sheath and I love it. I especially love the detail on the back. Congrats on your dress and wear it in good health. ;)
