Hi, I would love to study art maybe next year, because I want to work in a art gallery or something like that. So I was wondering, if anyone know which school is the most respected and best one for that?

Do you mean just general work at an art gallery or running your own gallery? I have a friend who's worked at a gallery--she got the job and she was only an art student at the time. She took no special courses to get the job. She just had previous experience volunteering at several galleries before. She knew about curating a show, etc. I also know someone who runs her own gallery and she took no courses for that too.

in london- getting a job at a gallery is all about who you ( or more precisly your parents) know...

No just work at one, not my own, not yet anyway...... So if you havent "the right parents" is there any other way you can put yourself out there?

lots and lots of luck and as it has been said, connections.

Some interning/ assiting helps a lot as well.

As for schools, are you studying fine arts or art history? I've been told that most of the art galleries prefer an art history degree. It's hard to research which school is the best, since many places have a specialization, but I know that Sotheby's and Christies both have a Business Art or Contemporary Art program that sound great for doing that type of work.

At the moment I'm studying a master in art curatorship at the university of Melbourne. You learn the skills and make connections while at uni. If you want to be a curator, you have to (at the least) study art history and museum studies. Nowdays curators need many skills - they also need to be educators, marketers, designers...etc. It is a pretty tough industry and the pay isn't great. The best way to begin would be volunteer at an art gallery. It would also help you decide if you really want to work in an art gallery or not.

Nice work, but the thought of spending my working life with a bunch of rah-rah pashminas is too much to bear.
