woven belts (especially metallic)

Woven belts...

In metallic- not at all
In regular colors- still no- I liked them at first, but I am soo sick of them I can't bare to look. Theyre everywhere!!

I'm very mixed on the woven belt thing. I do not like them wide, nor do I like them worn in the way I see them posted in these pics... I think like lena suggested it'd be good to find some runway pics showing alternative methods of wearing these.

I must say the mediaevalist in me can't help but love a good, well-made narrow woven belt in a simple dark leather - like the type that you have to knot at the waist. and worn over something other than a jersey tunic dress. ;) I've got one myself...it's about 1.5" wide, and reeeally long - I have to wrap it around my waist twice, and it looks a little weird by modern aesthetics, but I think it's really quite cool. :innocent:

i like them, so long as they are a rich brown or black and not super thick like hilary duff's is just ridiculous. also, the one texture across all of the belt is dated. i like them when its a bit uneven, kind of handmade looking... and with no ties for the love of god. i am so over dangly ties on belts.

Totally OT:

These 2 guys on the left are hotties!! Anyone know 'em?!;)
(sorry for reposting image!)

As for woven belts, think they would look good on a plain dress, no big bold prints like those Aussies teamed it with. for example, Nicole-that looked good. the girl in the above pic...i'm not too sure about that one. Or just with a pair of jeans and a simple top. The belts are not that disgusting, I think people didnt like them here as the pictures-notably the Melbourne club scene pics- didnt do the belt justice!

I thought this was a very large woven belt on lindsay like sienna's and hilary's but it looks it actually may be just the top of her skirt. Whatever it is I love it:heart:

I have a dark brown one that I've worn dozens of times, only $10.
I didn't know these belts were a trend though, I still see alot more people on the street with those spiky leather belts or those awful ribbon belts.

:ninja: I succumbed to the trend and bought one last week. As I prefer to stay away from the too trendy items, though I think they look best with neutral tone colours. Loud with busy make an awful combination.

I dunno how I feel about her look here. I know my celeb pics have been getting some hate here for whatever reasons but I don't go out taking pics of people I dunno wearing these types of things so celebs are the only people I can refer to since the paparrazzi take care of the picture taking for us. Plus celebs can afford to dress and accessorize better than your average non-celeb so it's just natural that I would post celebs. They're not so bad. I at least enjoy seeing runway looks brought to life on them:heart:

*celeb pictures are not 'getting hate' Style_savy its just that we have a special section JUST for celebrity style so members wishing to follow the celeb trend wagon are basically looking at our starstyle section.. in anycase if you enjoy posting those celeb pics here, kindly RESIZE
(most of them are 'huge' and make load time a boring business for our non adsl members.. ) and please give credits (who's the celebrity pictured, which designer/label is pictured there and absolutely credit where did you find the picture)
*here we discuss trends mainly as portrayed through collections/catwalks/magazines etc my dear Style_savy ;)
thanks for taking all these in concideration :flower:

I have a green woven belt that I got at a garage sale about 3 years ago for 10cents. (it sounds ugly and it probably is but I quite like it)

I like these belts, loose, or tight up around the waist, they sorda have a 70's feel for me. I do dig the mettalic also, or just plain colors, overall, a thumbs up

Lindsay's belt/skirt combination is very cool but check out her shoes! They look like something my music teacher wore back in elementary school. Yikes.

I mostly still like it.

True, it's become VERY mainstream and that pretty much kills any trend. I think it depends on the way you wear it, and what you pair with it. The problem is, these "hollywood clones" don't really know how to get creative, they all do the same thing - tank top and peasant skirt, or flowy dress plus beads, ect... Not that this can't work, it's just they've become so accustomed to this trend they just throw the belt in no matter what...

I have a few woven belts, and I still wear mine. They can look cool with more tailored outfits also.

I disagree w/ the olsen comment. I've never seen them ever even wear belts Im pretty sure which is kinda odd come to think of it. Those clubbers are from australia check out the melbourne fashion thread to see more.

They all look like they are doing an ad for belts:unsure:

I find this pretty ridiculous as a trend. I'd guess that about a quarter of the British male population has had one of those belts for the past decade...
