I totally agree.. Apart from Claude Maus (which I'm pretty obsessed with, and ranks like right up amongst my favourite labels) and Josh Goot, and I guess Ksubi.. I think Australian fashion is reallly weak.
Like New Zealand has Zambesi, Nom*D, Mala Brajkovic, Karen Walker, Little Brother, and designers like Jimmy D coming up.
There's a lot more going on here as opposed to the bright pastel loving fashion of our Australian cousins
Nom'D and Zambesi are run by sisters. Elisabeth is Zambesi and Margi is Nom'D.
I would agree that Zambesi can be blatantly derivative .... and there is a good reason for that, a fairly obvious one. But Zambesi can also be (could also have been as I left NZ seven years ago and so haven't been following it as closely) innovative with their cuts and fabrics. And most importantly their clothes are wearable....
