Zara S/S 2022 by Steven Meisel

Meisel phoning it in as usual these days. The cast and the painterly effect cannot make up for the lack of energy sadly.

J'adore!! Beautiful casting and beautiful portraits, an instant favorite of mine. No faults whatsoever.

The print campaign is classically so fresh, so clean.

The video with the animation was rather underwhelming with its washed-out, water-colour palette. But the softness, the lightness, the femininity translates to a radiance for the print campaign. Adore Jessica, but she is (rendered?) unrecognizable. Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing… I’d had thought it was a young Michelle Pfeiffer.

I hope this will be Stam’s comeback! it’s long overdue!!!

all shots are beautiful. my favourites are Lina and Stam.

the video is cute and I do like the idea, being the end of it the strongest bit alluding to a ‘Last Super’ and Eden’s apple.

What's the message? That time will pass and everything will break and spill and all the young girls will look old like the person who's the centrepiece?

Meisel has really failed to impress me lately... I love how their hair look though, he's still good at it.

Steven is back shooting Marie Sophie Wilson again! What a lovely throwback.
I think they never work together! I have all his eds for American, British and Italian Vogue from the early 80s to now and there is not a single picture of Marie, and I don't remember ad campaigs with her by him. Marie was more a Lindbergh muse than Meisel's and she was one of my favorite girls I always wanted to see behind Steven's lens. I'm loving this moment for that. I hope he discovers Vivien Solari as well. She's perfect for Zara.

Stunning campaign, i love the painting effect as reference on every ad.

With this campaign he turns 5 years working for Zara. Time flies.

Quite a stunning series of images, and this feels like a vast departure from previous Zara campaigns lensed by Meisel which I can appreciate. The portraits themselves are all gorgeous, couldn't possibly select a fave but I was immediately drawn to Georgia Palmer and Lina Zhang here.

The inclusion of Jessica Stam instantly takes me back to the glory days of Franca Sozzani's Vogue Italia, which of course feels like a real treat. This campaign could easily have been a Vogue Italia cover story back in the day! Almost painful to remember just how good we had it.
