Zinedine Zidane Gossip

we just think Zizou rocks. That's all.

We agree on this. He is a star and his style is superb. He just naturally belongs to the star style section...maybe more than anyone.

It´s preety obvious that the debate was a bit inevitable in the very beggining, because the incident was so talked about and so recent.
But now that things are somehow more tranquil we really should move on.

We like Zizou and many of us think he is a star and that he is gorgeous and full of style, so let´s concentrate on that.
This is the fashion spot not a sport site.
There are lots of sport sites and blogs to debate the football incident...

We´ve all posted our points of view on the incident, so what´s now to say that´s not already said?

Please, let´s move on and just enjoy ourselves with his style!

I've heard lots of versions of what materazzi said, what Zidane said first, about Materazzi being the type of guy that uses this behaviour to bring instability to the other player, etc. I think that a professional player like Zidane, who's being playing for more than 10 years, probably has heard all sort of insults. If people say that italians are prone to do that, Zidane played in Italian football for years, so he should be used to the whole thing. So, in a world cup final match, whenhe was the leader of the team, it's really weird of him to lose it like that. I think it was childish, he could've avoided that. Sice he couldn't, he deserved to be kicked out. That's it. But taking away his medal, not giving him his best player award, etc, that's going to far. Italians won the Cup, let the man keep his award. I only think it's foolish to try to excuse him for what he did, blaming Materazzi. If everybody reacted that way to provocative attitudes during a match, South American championships games would all end up without a single player on field, cause it happens all the time.

Actually, that's precisely the reason why it was moved to the Rumor Has It section and renamed. Originally, it was just named Zinedine Zidane and it was in the Star Style section; unfortunately, though, some people couldn't grasp the fact that Zizou-supporter was not the equivalent of Italy-hater (which I see still seems to be a conundrum to some around here), and thus as a result from the harsh criticism we received for liking Zizou, it was changed and moved.

We're not trying to bash Italy, we just think Zizou rocks. That's all.

I think many of us thought that if we could keep this thread clean and clear of useless debate concerning the World Cup and only focus on Zizou, we might have been able to persuade the mods to move it back... I can see though, that some people want to make that excessively difficult... :innocent:

Thanks for this eighteightkeys...

I'm interested to know what more can be added to the Zidane-Materazzi debate? Materazzi admits he started it by pulling Zidane's shirt consistently and when Zidane told him 'he could have it later' Materazzi didn't handle it well and launched a load of personal insults at Zidane, which funnily enough Materazzi can't bring himself to repeat to the media. Zidane foolishly head butted the prick, and played a part in losing France the world cup they deserved on evaluation of the whole game. Both were stupid. End of.

So what more do you want to add people? :innocent:

the mods are working on the star style issue.. no need to worry... i will post in here again when it is all worked out

Very insightful interview from the Guardian

Zinedine Zidane's journey from the rough back streets of Marseille to Madrid has been marked by racism, political controversy and superlative football. The world's best player tells Andrew Hussey of his pride in his Algerian heritage, his rage to be the best - and reveals why his talent can still be engulfed by flashes of violence ........

I agree. I'm sure Zidane has delivered his fair share of insults to other players as well. I also agree that having such a long soccer career, you'd think he'd be used to having people insult him and would have learned to control his emotions.

thats ridiculous he attacked someone...so what? It happens all the time in football so why are they removing his medal?

I guess I should re-word what I was saying..... what's the point in taking away his medal over this one incident when he's done it many times in the past? Why overlook past attacks, give the medal to him, and then take it away over this incident?

Yes but he didn't control his emotions...they got the better of him...and exactly what materazzi said, it seems we'll never know..... but unfortunately what happened, happened.

So what more do you want to add to this VainJane...?? *exasperated sigh*

It's happened three x before...and the reason why there's an outcry for him to have his medal taken away is because many people are incensed by his behaviour in a world cup final, coupled with pressure from those in the media, who want to make him pay for what he did. Because being sent off 10 mins before the end of his career and helping France lose, clearly wasn't enough......(!)

If he seriously injured someone (not just some stupid headbutt) or attacked a fan I could understand it but the only reason FIFA is even doing an inquiry is because of the stupid media frenzy which is in turn caused by the bunch of people (who normally dont watch football) watching the WC.

However a second place medal isn't much..just like the 3rd place medal. Zizou has earned enough in his life I doubt he'd miss a piece of silver on his mantle. The gold is worth so much more than the silver in the WC.

If you had any ears you'd hear that Zidan did provoke Materazzi... he said that Materazzi can have his shirt after the game. And yes of course lets defend Zizou because he is a hero and Materazzi is nicknamed the butcher. That's life - get over it.

I don't care about Zidane but you don't have the right to insult me and be rude to put your point across? we are adults right? :innocent:

what Zidane has no valid justification IMO. You just don't go head butting someone one the field because the allegedly insulted your mother. What are referees their for then?? so each time someo one makes a fault, they have the deserve to get punched kicked or headbutted? right

Anyway, let me get out of here before i get insulted by even more Zidane groupies:sick:

I now wish I had supported France in the final considering the foul tricks the Italians used to win. But he got the last laugh, a heros welcome and the player of the year award while papparazi or whatever his name is got a tag of being racist! So I guess its all gd

I think I read somewhere that they're investigating the incident right now and that they'll make a decision on July 20.

So what more do you want to add to this VainJane...?? *exasperated sigh*

I don't know what the exasperation is for....my comments have been tame kitty cats compared to other people's. I'm just a girl interested in controversial issues who likes to see both sides of the situation.

^ Look I apologise for coming off as a bit arsey VainJane, and it's nothing personal against you...I think before you posted your comments we'd gone round and round in circles about this with other posters, and then the thread got shifted into this section, despite our efforts to get a bit off the subject... so everyone's a bit fed up.

I just think it's one of those situations, where people are bound to disagree...

I don't think you can justify Zidane's violence, but you can certainly explain why he was compelled to do it....and it boils my blood that everyone gets on Zidane's back for his actions, yet make excuses for Materazzi's role in it.

Call me niave, but I don't accept that talking trash/racist/derogatory is acceptable in football and therefore we can wave away what instigated it.......verbal abuse/bullying is just as bad as violence imo.

Thank you SO much for that article, indeed very insightful! Karma for you:flower:

When I have kids someday I will teach them that if someone is taunting
you, it's alright to slap them on their face, or yet, headbutt them, that will
solve the problem.
