If they take his best player away is like saying you can call people sexist and racist things on the pitch, let's keep doing trash talk guys but don't forget that violence is not allowed. They'll put their cute faces and start another of their campaigns asking to stop racism or violence but then they don't no anything.

It wasn't the Italians fault that Zizou got thrown out...it was his own fault for head butting him. I think what the Italian said was horrible, and just a great example of terrible sportsmanship, but it was Zizou's head that went into the Italian's stomach..the physical contact aspect of it all, so it's completely 100% fair and the right call. They should reprimand the Italian player somehow , if they haven't already. Don't know how much that would do though.

I completely agree. They should punish both players...but I still think that a physical attack is much worse than a verbal one. A physical attack could do serious harm to another player and possibly even end their career if they're hurt very badly.

What I don't get is why they're taking Zidane's medal away for this one attack when he's apparently attacked other players over his soccer career....why give it to him in the first place then?

OK, why do people believe what Zidane said? Their are always 2 sides to the story , who knows if Zidane was teling the truth?

They both exchnaged words, maybe had other conforntations during the course of the game?
are people 100% sure that Zidane said nothing to provoke mazeratti?

But of course Zidane would never do such thing, he is a hero for a whole generation so lets defend him and demonize Mazeratti

Hey everyone, it's great to see the Zizou thread alive and kicking!

For all Zizou fans, given the sensitivity of the headbutt issue, can we all agree that we will do everything possible to keep this thread alive, and NOT locked? Which means not responding to posts that are just here to stir things up?

It's fine to disagree with non-Zizou fans, but let's try to separate those who are respectfully providing their alternate/disagreeing views...and those who may just want to incite some drama.

I really do want to continue to see more pics of Zizou, and so many wonderful posters have taken so much time to post pictures and share and even translate articles. Let's not let all their hard work go to waste and ensure that thread doesn't get locked, ok?

thats ridiculous he attacked someone...so what? It happens all the time in football so why are they removing his medal? Does Rossi get his medal removed as well? If he seriously injured someone (not just some stupid headbutt) or attacked a fan I could understand it but the only reason FIFA is even doing an inquiry is because of the stupid media frenzy which is in turn caused by the bunch of people (who normally dont watch football) watching the WC.

However a second place medal isn't much..just like the 3rd place medal. Zizou has earned enough in his life I doubt he'd miss a piece of silver on his mantle. The gold is worth so much more than the silver in the WC.

If you had any ears you'd hear that Zidan did provoke Materazzi... he said that Materazzi can have his shirt after the game. And yes of course lets defend Zizou because he is a hero and Materazzi is nicknamed the butcher. That's life - get over it.

I'm going to ask VINTAGE PRINCESS, one of the moderators to remind these people to act respectfully!! I don't think it's fair that most of us are trying to keep this thread positive and helpful and fun...and then you have a few who are just out to provoke. It's not fair that this thread could get locked just because of the actions of these few.

The headbutt is pretty much a moot point by now. You either think what Zizou did is right. Or it's wrong. There are truly valid points for both sides of the argument BUT at this point (one WEEK after) nothing that anyone can say will convince you otherwise.

Actually, that's precisely the reason why it was moved to the Rumor Has It section and renamed. Originally, it was just named Zinedine Zidane and it was in the Star Style section; unfortunately, though, some people couldn't grasp the fact that Zizou-supporter was not the equivalent of Italy-hater (which I see still seems to be a conundrum to some around here), and thus as a result from the harsh criticism we received for liking Zizou, it was changed and moved.

We're not trying to bash Italy, we just think Zizou rocks. That's all.

I think many of us thought that if we could keep this thread clean and clear of useless debate concerning the World Cup and only focus on Zizou, we might have been able to persuade the mods to move it back... I can see though, that some people want to make that excessively difficult...
