According to modelresource.ca the Canadian finalist will be revealed tonight. Wonder how much coverage they mean? All the model shows have increased interest I guess.

Following their cross-Canada search, Ford Canada narrowed down their list of models vying to represent Canada at the next Supermodel of the World contest, and brought the finalists together for one big event.

Tonight, on national television, the winner will be revealed.

Each of select seven was brought to Toronto, and given the opportunity to prove themselves worthy of the opportunity to represent this country at next year's finals in New York.

Coverage begins at 10:00 p.m. (9:00 Central) on CityTV.

Well, it was a one-hour show, and so boring! Very straightforward. Show clips of the cities where the auditions take place, show short pretty girls milling around and watching sponsor demonstrations, show the six finalists, ask them the typical questions, show the runway final, then cut the show off before telling us who won. We had to look it up on-line!

No sign of them wanting older girls, they were almost all 14.

Canadian finalist: Shelby Farber, 14, Toronto, 5'10"

They did say the NY final would be in January.

That's weird. They showed the announcement on the version I was watching. The person they picked was okay. I liked the white model from Quebec, personally.

I also thought that the girl from Quebec should win.
Here is an article on the winner:

Toronto teen to represent Canada at Supermodel of the World competition

June 18, 2008 - 23:12

THE CANADIAN PRESS

TORONTO - A Toronto teen has been selected to represent Canada in what's touted as the largest and most prestigious competition in the modelling world.
Shelby Furber has been crowned Ford Supermodel of Canada and will participate in the renowned Ford Supermodel of the World competition next January.

The winner of the international contest will be awarded a US$250,000 contract with Ford Models.
The 15-year-old was awarded the Canadian title following a runway show with five fellow finalists at Toronto's historic Distillery District last week.
The results were officially revealed during a one-hour television special airing Wednesday night on Citytv which included highlights from the nationwide search and the finale.
Ford Models went to Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Halifax in April and May in search of fresh-faced hopefuls from across the country.
The five-foot-10 Furber said she had no previous modelling experience prior to the competition, and it was actually her mother who started the online submission to Ford.
Held in 50 countries around the globe, the Ford Supermodel of the World search is the first talent search of its kind, and has helped to discover some of the most notable new stars in the fashion world.
Past Canadian winners of the competition include Leanne Spencer in 1996, Monika Schnarre in 1986 and "Battlestar Galactica" star Tricia Helfer in 1992.
Finalists have included Ingrid Schram of Kelowna, B.C., in 2005 and Toronto natives Bojana Reljic in 2006 and Kate Somers in 2007.

Sometime in January of 2009....right now they are just choosing each country's winner to compete in the international contest. They used to have the contest in exotic locations but for the last few years it has been featured in New York City. Last years winner is no where to be seen and they seem to have lost their knack for spotting talent but other top agencies have no problem signing up the best of the rejects and making them stars.

^Ford's 'myspace' find, Kendra Spears, is doing very well right now in Milan & Paris. Probably the most successful on the runway of last years girls.

Maybe they should stick to myspace...it would be a lot cheaper.

You're right about the girl though.

^ Oh. They've been in NYC for the past five years or so, and I liked that. Gives it a different vibe
compared to EML, and the girls actually went to see some real casting directors and stuff.

Albanian winner Dorela Hysa, 15 :D
