Yes, if it indeed was silent (which it pretty much has to be from 1915) a lot of them are lost to time now...Hugh Hefner has donated lots of money to UCLA over the years to preserve what they can before the film turns to dust...I remember hearing some shocking figure of how many of the early films are gone forever- it was terribly sad...:cry: Thank God for Turner Classic Movies- I have many films recorded on DVD now that I would never find in a video store! ;)
