redundant as usual in the main categories. at the very least,a couple surprises i see. congrats to robin givhan and i like justin giunta's work.

The womenswear designer of the year nominees aren't too exciting.

I think that Proenza Schouler should win for the womenswear! ^_^

doo.ri won last year for the emerging talent i believe. I agree scott - it's nice to see robin givhan recognized.

^absolutely. a wonderful writer, she is. best in this country if you ask me.

btw,i know i'm in the minority when i say this,as obviously Thakoon is a big favourite, but i think the sisters from Rodarte are incredibly talented.

I hope that Marc Jacobs take the award because he is the best one

These look strangely like last year's winners. I want both Thakoon and Rodarte to win the Perry Ellis award, Marc Jacobs or Proenza Schouler for womenswear, and Marc Jacobs for accessories.

Thakoon All The Way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree he's made a big change!! At first he just wanted to be a T-shirt designer, but this is much more than T-shirts and sportswear! Leyla you need to buy Thakoon's collection too! He's just too good!

Thakoon will be a very nice choice.
Philip Lim has been copying so much and of course he got lots of commercial success. But I don't think that should be recognized or promoted. Thakoon, on the other hand, is way more original but not enjoying as much success (commercially) so I'd love to see more exposure.

CFDA names Ralph Lauren a fashion legend

The Council of Fashion Designers of America will bestow its first-ever title of Fashion Legend to Ralph Lauren at its 25th annual awards ceremony in June. The honor coincides with Lauren's 40th anniversary in the industry.

^^ i can understand he has succeded making money and creating a huge brands-labels-lines empire... but i would say he is a businessman, not a designer (and of course, i totally respect and admire that!! he has set an example and has done something no one had ever done before)

Ralph Lauren's no legend. When I think "FASHION LEGEND!!!!" I think of Balenciaga or Vionnet...not the maker of ubiquitous polo shirts.
