Ryan McGinley
The CFDA Awards are as much a competition for dress of the night as they are for designer of the year. Our nominees are Kate Bosworth in Proenza Schouler feathers, Rilo Kiley's Jenny Lewis in fuchsia Rodarte, Lauren duPont in Peter Som and French braids, and a pregnant Karen Elson in clingy Zac Posen. As for the boys, our hearts belong to moody, broody Ryan McGinley, the photographer whose provocative nudes put the Swarovski Award nominees in a new light.

what about these 'provocative' nude photos?!?!?...:woot:...
has anyone seen them?...

:innocent:

and apparently there was a dinner hosted the night before sponsored by swarovski as well...
the gift was a crystal covered ipod...

missed connection

We rushed home from Top of the Rock to charge up our new crystal-encrusted iPod shuffle, the generous and cool and spangle-y gift from Sunday night's Swarovski dinner. Unfortunately, said crystals make it impossible to wedge the shuffle into its charger, and removing a row of those bling rhinestones isn't the most attractive solution. What would Steve Jobs do?

OOOPSSS!!!...

well i was looking at some sites on vintage and antique swarovski, and most were always used for jewellery and embroideries. that's just been my perception, they've always used them for fashion pieces. i know they are a very old, established company that does support many young talents. which is great. and as far as the money, well,it doesn't matter where because they seem to be the only company of its nature doing something good.

do you have a link to some of his work?...:flower:

He did an editorial with Kate Moss for W this june issue, it's pretty remarkable.

and I remember when it was only williamsburg hipsters ala vice magazine that gave ryan any attention...

^his work used to be pretty sleazy but i've noticed he's evolving alot in recent years.
