2008 Academy Awards

I like what they just did with the military men and women in Iraq presenting the award. Another nice moment from tonight. This Oscar's has been really sweet!

The ponytailed presenter keeps her beach-girl cool in a pale pink Dior by John Galliano bustier gown, Bulgari jewels, Roger Vivier clutch and minimal makeup.

Smoldering her way down the red carpet, the actress sizzles in a black silk taffeta Oscar de la Renta fishtail gown, major Van Cleef & Arpels diamonds, Roger Vivier clutch and a deeply parted updo.

The presenter is a modern goddess in her flowered and draped red Marchesa gown, Harry Winston diamonds and sleek ponytail.

The mom-to-be, who tells Ryan Seacrest that she's in her "third trimester," glows in her deep-purple feathered Marchesa gown and Cartier diamonds.
The expectant double-nominee – for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress – is fashion-forward in a navy satin Dries Van Noten gown, Lorraine Schwartz jewels and a Roger Vivier clutch.
The always-glamorous star sweeps down the red carpet in a Chanel Haute Couture navy feather embroidered gown – designed by Karl Lagerfeld just for her, no less! – accessorized with a Roger Vivier clutch and Chopard diamonds.
The mom-to-be keeps her custom Balenciaga gown and Bottega Veneta clutch simple, putting the focus on her 1,399-carat diamond necklace designed by L'Wren Scott – and of course, her baby bump!
The young star is perfectly in step on the red carpet in her scarlet Valentino chiffon gown, Neil Lane jewels, Mary Norton clutch and a curly ponytail.

The Best Actress nominee is a modern mermaid in her intricately detailed custom-made Jean Paul Gaultier gown, Chopard diamond necklace and ring, and Daniel Swarovski clutch.

The two-time Oscar winner shows off her award-worthy physique in a clinging Atelier Versace black gown, Ferragamo clutch and Chopard diamonds.
The youngest Best Actress nominee wears the oldest gown, hitting the red carpet in a vintage black Jean Louis Scherrer dress and a 19th-century natural pearl and rock crystal rondelle Fred Leighton chain.
The Oscar winner goes for the silver in her hand embroidered Carolina Herrera gown and Cartier jewels.
Red is the color of the night – the newlywed is simply stunning in her crimson silk georgette Escada column gown, Ryan Ryan jewels and Jimmy Choo shoes and clutch.
Looking totally glamorous in her emerald green strapless Proenza Schouler gown and Fred Leighton diamonds isn't enough for this star – the Enchanted actress also performed a nominated song from the movie during the show.
Last year's Best Actress winner is regal on the red carpet in her custom-made ruby red satin George Chakra gown with Swarovski crystal sleeves and H. Stern and Fred Leighton diamonds.

Last year's Best Supporting Actress winner is totally glam in her white beaded Roberto Cavalli gown – and not a bolero in site!
The new mom shows off her svelte shape in a strapless champagne organza bustier Nina Ricci evening dress and a 46-carat-diamond H. Stern necklace.
The Best Actress nominee is elegant in a midnight silk bustle-back Michael Kors gown, dramatic Cathy Waterman jewels and Ferragamo bag and heels.
One of the night's performers – for the nominated song "That's How You Know," from Enchanted – goes for old-fashioned sex appeal in her black and rose Armani Privé gown and Fred Leighton diamond hair clips.
The Best Supporting Actress is classic in a one-shouldered navy Calvin Klein column gown and H. Stern diamond earrings and bracelet.
The Project Runway host goes for high drama in a Haute Couture by John Galliano gown. The red silk taffeta stunner will be auctioned off online to beneft Red Heart Truth charity.

I agree  this years show was better than the red-carpet  hey that dosent happen often for me.^_^

I must be one of the few that thinks Nicole Kidman looks good. Her face is stunning, so classic Greek-goddess. She looks softer and more like her Moulin Rouge days.

I thought she looked great too ^_^
its a pleasent surprise to see her glowing like that, and not so skin and bones

Maybe J Hudson needed a bolero this year, to cover up how badly this dress fits the top half of her body!

I'm going to get fire for this: I think Marion looked a bit skanky with that hair and mermaid dress.

makeup:

The first presenter of the night put the "emphasis on the strong slash part," according to her hairstylist Adir Abergel, combined with black cat-eye liner and shimmering nude lips.

For her "modern goddess" look, hairstylist Robert Ramos created a braided updo that was "beautiful and movie star-esque, but still edgy and stylish." Add her golden eyes and glowing skin, and the expectant star is truly divine.

The Best Actress winner is a far cry from her portrayal of Edith Piaf with her lush curls, shimmering silver eyes and perfectly pink lips.

The actress may have admitted to being nervous onstage, but her retro curls and red lips were totally flawless on the red carpet. Her makeup artist tells PEOPLE that the inspiration behind her look was her Escada dress, which was "so scarlet red we wanted to do a coral lip to match."
The 15-year-old star is age-appropriate with her sleek curled ponytail, sparkling eyes and glossy rose lips.
The expectant mom shows off her pregnant glow with strong brows, rose lips and a soft bun.

The presenter accents her flowered Marchesa gown with a curly ponytail, lightly lined eyes and deep coral lips.

Last year's Best Actress nominee keeps her highlighted locks straight and pinned up on the sides – the better to accent her smoky eyes and pale lips.
