according to the l.a.times, you have to be a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences to attend the oscars if you aren't nominated or presenting...

AMPAS invites new members every year, and if you don't see certain people (kiera, etc) that could be why...

Why is it at least one actress who wears Marchesa to these things feels the need to braid their hair? And why is Jessica Alba always at the Oscars? Beside that, I like the dress and the color.

Katherine Heigl looks like a Golden Girl who's been invited to the Oscars. She looks like she's 50.

I wish Cameron Diaz tried a little harder. She's not a young 20-something anymore who can get away w/haphazard hair and minimal make-up. She looks like she took off her jeans and flip flops and threw this dress on at the last minute.

Renee Z always looks like she's sucking on a lemon.
