The show was utterly disappointing on many levels.
It is sad to see what MTV is being reduced to nowadays. I remember when I was 17/18, which was not that long ago, VMAs and MTV Movie awards meant something. It was a collection of huge stars, musicians, actors and models etc. putting on amazing shows and presentations, just to have fun and appreciate the movies and the youth that rejoiced in them. Not just some teenage actors and their tween movies... but HUGE names with viable careers. Yes, it was never the Oscars, thank God, but the star power and name recognition was so much bigger than what we saw here tonight. The likes of Jim Carrey and even Will Ferrell looked odd among the rest. And again, the reason why Ferrell was there was to promote a movie... like the rest of the actors attended.
More and more MTV is losing prestige, by replacing music with scripted reality TV shows. I mean it is sad really. The only people who have the star power here are like likes of Zac and Vanessa, and that doesn't say much. MTV, the worst of all, lost its influence on music, fashion, cultural zeitgeist at large, and the youth culture. I am not some 35 year old hating on the young and the hot. These are my generation actors attended this award show tonight. I am just bothered by how 'corporate' the whole thing has turned into. The only actors, who showed up here tonight, are the ones who have some upcoming movie to PROMOTE for the summer.
Kind of sad for people like me who loved watching MTV while growing up.
