2011 Emmy Nominations
The 2011 Emmy Award nominations were announced today by Melissa McCarthy, who found herself nominated for her work on Mike & Molly, and Joshua Jackson. Here's a short list to start things off, which we'll be updating throughout the day as the full list of nominees is announced (they're available in less convenient slideshow form at Emmys.com too) . Surprises included a first-time nomination for Parks & Recreation as Best Comedy series, a nod to Louis C.K. as Best Actor in a Comedy for his series Louie, and a spot for Martha Plimpton in Best Actress in a Comedy in Raising Hope, one of the only freshman shows from the recent season to make it at all. The Big Bang Theory, which has been a hit for years, is also enjoying its first-ever nomination as Best Comedy Series.
