After reading 21 pages and seing +100 pictures the only thought that crosses my mind is: When did Oscar become so boring?
...when every star decided to go for "old hollywood glamour" instead of being original.

I agree. Everyone looked okay. There isn't any one dress that stands out in my mind...it was so bland. It would have been cool if someone would have at least pulled a Cher, and showed up absolutely wild-looking, or if someone would have worn something completely hideous.

Am I the ONLY one who was not impressed by Cate Blanchett's dress? I think that yellow and burgundy ensemble was ugly. She looked much better at the Golden Globes.

I think the Aviator had a lot to do with it IMO. I still liked the "old Hollywood glamour" The Academy Awards IMO are always a little more conservative where fashion is concerned. No one wants to really stand out or be seen too much but still be glamorous.

Yea I see what you mean. I tend to prefer stars who take risks. For example, I actually liked the black Alexander McQueen dress Gwyneth wore a couple years ago. It may not have been the most flattering for her chest, but at least she took a risk.

I love the bottom of the McQueen dress. Morgan, I agree, the top of the dress isn't flattering at all. I like risk takers as well...but even risk takers need to take a break every once in a while (a la Academy Awards). :)

Am I the only one thinking Johnny Depp's outfit was absolutely tacky?
Vanessa, do something, please!
I agree with you and I love Johnny Depp but I did not like his outfit at all

When Gisele was asked if she was going to go to the Oscar's by a reporter she snapped 'Why would I do that?' So I am glad Gisele managed to lower herself to go , I mean , she's right , going to the Oscars isn't as classy as walking down a catwalk in your underwear is it? Poor girl.

Best dressed:

Natalie Portman :heart:the headband
Vanessa Paradis
Kirsten Dunst
Cate Blanchett
Selma Blair (after party gorgeous gown! )
Gisele B
Natalia V
Maggie G
Mischa B
Laura Linney (though her dress was reminiscent of Jennifer Connelly's Balenciaga a few years back)
Selma Hayek

Penelope's green dress looked much better than the yellow one. Emmy's gown was a little boring but the color looked amazing on her. Realllly didn't like the front of Hilary Swank's dress so bland. Also noticed the redheaded lady in a green dress who won for best costume design.

I don't see why EVERYONE loved Natalie's outfit. It didn't suit her figure at all, it looked like it was on a clotheshanger, not on a woman's body. Plus she looked really short in it. And the headband didn't go with it at all. And her head looked to large for her body.

the dress on emmy looks akward, the bottom starts too low. that cavalli dress on the maria full of grace girl is JUST like beyonce and alicia keyes' grammy dresses...what is wrong with these stylists? i think halle berry looked great in atelier versace. btw, did versace have the most dresses?

Anyone know if Rene Zellweger (i know I spelled that wrong!) has dyed her hair dark for a movie role?

thank you for saying it. i agree wholeheartedly  :flower:

i loved beyonces versace dress...the hair, makeup and jewlery were flawless. i also loved gwen stefanis dress, very odd to see her in versace. i liked gwyneths dress but it didnt fit well in the chest and it looked like a lot of fabric was coming out from her crotch...very akward looking. cates dress was too much like jennifer garner's orange vintage valentino...practically the same dress. i did love kirsten dunsts look considering i usually hate her. kate winslets dress was ok, it looked like something from cache and that color did not look good in that particular fabric. natalies dress had a great color and fabric but i did not like it from the waist down. it did make her look to short and it didnt move well. i guess i love drama and flowing trains but w/e, i didnt think it was a horrible year, it just wasnt the best for oscar fashion. i wouldve like to see nicole, kate hudson, and CZjones, theyre my favorites.

she dyed it for Cinderella Man. but now i think she's just keeping it cause she likes it so much.

she has actually changed it since the oscars- now, its a nice rich dark red with blunt bangs! looks nice and goes with her skin tone.

Is it just me, or is Renee starting to look chineese?
:ninja:

Your location states that you're in Oslo.
You should know that Renee's mom is from the northern region of Troms, her mom is also of Sami heritage, an indigenous people with slightly slanted eyes. I'm part Sami yet I haven't inherited the eyeshape some people with Sami blood in their veins do some don't it's a matter of DNA bingo. Of course most people aren't aware of this, :innocent:
But now you do.....uhm hopefully:flower: Yeah I care about useless information:lol:
