81st Annual Academy Awards

worst-dressed? Beyonce and Vanessa Hudgens. that Marchesa's proportions looked so weird and was so unflattering.

anyone love tilda? she looked so radiant and demure in her usual quirky manner. she slays me with her boldness in a mainstream world.

and how about penelope....best speech of the night for me. so sweet and resonating. and marion cotillard....she was exquisite in her presentation.

A movie that should have gone straight to DVD wins the Oscar for Best Picture

I'm pleased Kate Winslet & Sean Penn won  I couldn't stand it if Mickey Rourke won.

Could Brad & Angelina be more any more smug :ninja:

i thought Tilda looked very elegant in her Lanvin, i liked that she added that red lipstick which really brought out the contrast of her green eyes.

Marion's hair was perfect with her Dior

I always adore Tilda... IMO she can do no wrong. She completely does her own thing & I love that about her... but you said it better than I could Scott.

:flower:

omg lol she Kate is being interviewed by the press on E! and some stupid reporter asked her about the criticism in the British press about her crying in awards speeches and she's like "I really don't care" and that was that! She's so cute and pleasant.

So the big winners were Sean Penn, Kate Winslet, Penelope Cruz and Heath Ledger...very impressive list! Interesting only 1/4 is American. They always have winners from all over the world.

Dang I wish the E! Channel in Oz showed all of the backstage and pressroom stuff.
They're just repeating the red carpet over and over again. As in literally, all day.

I love Sean Penn and all but I really wish Mickey had won. That would have been a great story.

Exactly! I think SM has pulled one of the biggest magic tricks since Houdini. I'll be honest, i watched this movie and thought it was enjoyable at best. Then all this talk of Oscar and awards and I was scratching my head as to why? Its nothing special, its predictable, and the kids outacted the adults. Oscar? Well oscar's track record has been sketchy of late so it doesnt really surprise. I mean, Crash over Brokeback mountain?

I agree on all counts. The children actors in the film were the astounding part.

i dunno ben button was pretty captivating to me. it for me as well as vicky christina is pure cinema...cinema with substance.

i would also love to see that melissa leo film. from the trailer and the scenes that have been shown the last few weeks, she really did deserve that nom.

Is there a thread that follows the style at the Oscars after parties?

I have enjoyed BB and CB aswell, but havent seen the SM so cant really judge.

I'm just really happy with the show this year, the fact not everyone wallked the red carpet was a nice surprise when you saw them on stage presenting. And i loved the different format of giving awards, plus alot of very nice clothes, in a subtle way. Will wait for the after party shots now, we better get tons of Tilda.
