Addicted to buying fashion magazines, who has the same problem??

i was addicted...so i let my subscriptions run out and i just get nylon. I was subscribed for a good 2-3 years to Vogue, W, Elle, Elle girl (till they canceled the mag :( and started sending me this cosmo girl crap), Bazaar, Nylon, Glamour, Teen Vogue, and Marie Claire. and then i'd go to barnes and noble or borders to buy french vogue, french elle, The magazine, jane, and a few other imported mags....it was really bad....then i started seeing vogue recycle pics, do some photoshoots too similar to things they had shot a few seasons ago...and got bored. i still buy a vogue and elle here and there....but Nylon is my only true love now as far as the mags go....

It's not....as bad for me anymore since I've stopped buying the overseas magazines (UK, Italia, Paris) which costed me a gazillion dollar. I'm just sticking to the US Mags with the occasional Italia Vogue if Stammy's in it. It could be worse :ninja:

I buy a little bit of everything: Italia Vogue, French, Elle, GQ, Complex, W, InStyle... the list goes on:ninja:

Not only do I have an addiction to buying them, but I have a hard time getting rid of them! I have stacks all over my living room of my mags in chronological order! My mom told me to throw some out but I refuse, I refuse!

^OMG, me too.

I used to lend people my mags, but then a few of them got recycled. :( I'm so careful with them also. People just flip through them or turn the pages really fast and all I can say is "You know what's fun? Reading magazines with gloves! Better yet, why don't I just flip the pages.. :woot:"

I buy quite a few mags and they are everywhere....Older issues are stored in plastic bins and the newer issues are kept out until I decide to organize and put them in bins....but I always take out older issues to flip through... So sometimes there's a mixture.

My fave mags are V, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar....there are more though.

I am addicted too :(
But my friends they understand that I am and whenever they find fashion mags lying around in their house, they always give it to me :)
And for my birthday, two of my friends brought me every single edition of vogue from that month!
My mum always says stuff like: 'We are not rich that you must buy many expensive magazines each month'.
 Once my mum gave me £10 for a school trip and I was only allowed to spend a little of it for some ice-cream but then I spent it all on magazines
Whenever I am with my Dad, I am just sitting around in the restaurant. So he always sends me to the newsagents to buy a magazine and I never bring back change

My mom told me if I would have saved my money instead of buying magazines, I could afford to pay for university.

 I always get looks of disapproval over the amount of money I spend on magazines. I have had friends literally stare at me in shock, horror, and disbelief after a trip to Barnes and Noble. It is not uncommon for me to leave with 10 magazines in one trip! The worst part is that I also subscribe to like 5 others.

lol I am addicted to buying fashion magazines. Most of my wallet gets empty from the overseas ones I get at B&N. :(

Parents don't understand magazines - in defense of magazine buying, you can tell them that (a) it's better than spending your money on alcohol, and (b) the foreign language magazines are helping you learn something useful and important.

If you were reading books all the time, they wouldn't be able to complain, yet books cost even more than magazines! Depending on the magazine, they can be very educational about the arts, or in the instance of say, Vanity Fair, thought-provoking about politics. It's important to be culturally aware - that's the education a decent magazine can give you.

if i could i would spend about $30 on magazines a month - russh, vogue australia, oyster, u.s nylon and u.s teen vogue. it's hard to though..because my mum is suspicious if i'm missing $7

i think the answer is simple. buy the cheap thick domestic mags like elle and vogue and flip through the flimsy tabloids and expensive import magazines at the bookstore. american bookstores have cafes and cushy chairs expressly for this purpose.

haha i think i've finally found the thread i belong in!
i've actually skipped lunch and just gotten coffee so i can afford the newest european magazines. i love the menswear magazines too which always seem to be a little more expensive than most others.

sometimes i think that if i saved all the money i spend on W i could actually afford the clothes in W.

^I do that, but then I come across a spread of an article I absolutely love, I end up leaving with that magazine plus 3 more:ninja:

Actually, that is my method. I am usually pretty good about this but once in awhile, I go on a binge.

I do that too :innocent:

the above method sounds useful but I mostly buy magazines because of the editorials instead of the articles. and the printed pics are always better than scans so I have to buy the magazines...

you see Borders and all those places where you can sit down and read the magazines are great and all...but nothing beats having the actual magazine at home! :woot:

But the irony is that once you own the magazine and its safely at home, its not a novelty anymore - well personally, I just feel the need to own new magazines....hehe :innocent:

When I was a student and had no money, I wanted to buy every magazine I saw. Now that I've got money, it's the opposite, I find it very easy to pick a mag, flick through it, and then put it back on the shelf unbought. C'est la vie.
