It's the shots from in front of the Christmas tree with Karlie and Ale. I think they just decided to have her hair down.

FAST AND FURIOUS: Olivier Rousteing serves up hot models — and a side order of fries in a Styrofoam container — in his spring campaign for Balmain. While dressed to the nines in the French brand’s clingy and cutout-riddled collection, Adriana Lima, Joan Smalls, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Isabeli Fontana and Crista Cober are depicted playing video games — popcorn scattered about the floor — and scarfing burgers on a diner banquette.

“You can’t eat caviar every day,” said Rousteing, noting he was eager to depict his “Balmain army” in real situations. “I wanted to have power women in the campaign.”

Photographed by Mario Sorrenti, the models certainly channel fashion fierceness with their curves, killer cheekbones and slicked-back hair. Art director Pascal Dangin said the sets were inspired by the “distorted realism” of Seventies French cinema.

Rousteing said he was also keen to show a “diversity of girls,” many of whom he reunited with backstage at the recent Victoria’s Secret fashion show in London, showing them preview images of the ads on his smartphone. The campaign is slated to break in February issues of leading fashion titles.

It takes an army…Olivier Rousteing knows that. For Spring ’15, the Balmain creative director has recruited Adriana Lima, Joan Smalls, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Isabeli Fontana, and Crista Cober. Shot by Mario Sorrenti and art-directed by Pascal Dangin, the latest campaign depicts “real” life situations—a brawl at a metro station, a dazed car crash.

“They’re all strong. They are powerful,” Rousteing tells Style.com. “I wanted to show their power, because obviously they are really sexy and we all know them for their sexiness and the glamour.” But, more important than the sex and glamour, says Rousteing, is the strength and power he wanted to portray. “You can really feel the army, you can feel the battle. You can feel the power of the girls, and we usually don’t see that in a campaign.”

One notable face missing from this gorgeous battalion: Kendall Jenner. “If I took Kendall, it would be in a different concept with different girls,” Rousteing says. “And obviously, she’s my friend, but for this campaign I wanted to have Adriana with Rosie with Isabeli with Joan and Crista.” The closeness of this group is what made it click. “We didn’t feel like we were shooting the campaign, it was like a big party or a big reunion. We were having fun. And they were not only modeling, it was really like interacting together, and I think that was the power of the picture. You can see that they were really intimate. I love the feeling of being real and honest, and I think this campaign is all about that. It’s powerful, it’s pop, and at the same time, there are real emotions.”

TROOP MARC JACOBS: The spring campaign from Marc Jacobs features an army of top models, including Anja Rubik, Karlie Kloss, Adriana Lima, Joan Smalls, Kendall Jenner, Natasha Poly, Anna Ewers, Aya Jones and Jessica Stam, styled in his military uniform-inspired spring look and a messy bob wig from the runway show. Styled by Katie Grand and shot by David Sims, with hair by Guido Palau and makeup by Diane Kendal, the campaign includes nine double page layouts featuring a full-length shot and a portrait of each model. The campaign will begin to run in the January issues of leading fashion magazines.
