And with all of the beachside lounging and weekend getaways that are likely to fill up your social calendar soon, it's certainly smart to make sure your bikini body is in tip-top shape. Wondering where to start? We tapped Victoria's Secret model and bona fide Brazilian bombshell Adriana Lima at the brand's What is Sexy launch party for advice on maintaining a healthy lifestyle this summer. Here's what she told us:

1. Keep Moving: "Even if you don't have time to go to the gym, take 15 or 20 minutes out of your day and go outside for a walk," she advised.

2. Exercise Whenever You Can: "Get a jump rope and jump inside your house for five minutes. Or, if you're watching TV, start doing squats. It's better than nothing!"

3. Stay Hydrated: "I love coconut water, it's a Brazilian thing. I pick some up at Whole Foods all of the time."

Tyra Banks Mentored Adriana Lima

It may seem like a distant memory now, but there was once a time when Adriana Lima was a young modelling ingénue. Thankfully, former Victoria's Secret Angel Tyra Banks was there to offer her guidance

"I remember Tyra Banks giving me encouraging advice during my first Victoria's Secret commercial shoot," Lima recalled. "I was so nervous and she told me to just relax and be confident - that made me feel very comfortable. Everyone was so nice."

Brazilian-born Lima was hired by Victoria's Secret in 1999, before being promoted to Angel status in 2000. She has starred in the label's annual catwalk events countless times since, but there is one particular show that still remains unforgettable.

"My favourite memory is when Justin Timberlake performed," she said of the musician's 2006 appearance on the brand's catwalk. "It was so fun with a lot of energy."

When she's not working, Lima enjoys, perhaps surprisingly, boxing. "It's such a passion of mine and I've been doing it for several years," she said.


It has become somewhat of a tradition among Victoria's Secret beauties to launch fashion lines, with Gisele Bundchen, Lily Aldridge and Alessandra Ambrosio all having branched out into the design world. Lima is also considering following in her peers' footsteps.

"Why not? It could be fun," she said.
