inoubliablemodelarmyInoubliable Model Army (IMAHi Agne, congratulations on a phenomenal Fall/Winter 2013 season. Your 58 show tally of 58 included appearances at BCBG Max Azria, Jason Wu, Calvin Klein, Jil Sander, Balmain, Lanvin, Valentino, and Chanel! How are you feeling after such a mammoth effort and what were your favourite moments from the season?
Agne Konciute (AKI am feeling very well. It was my best season. Really hard, but worth it! It was my first time in New York, so my favourite moment was just getting to see and explore the city. I am in love with NY!
IMA: Would you mind sharing a bit of your backstory with IMA?
AK: I'm 17 years old and started modelling at the age of 14. It was almost an accident for me to start in the industry as my mother agency, Supermodels Model Management in Lithuania found me on Facebook and asked me to come to their offices and paid for my trip. I live in a small town which is really far from the major cities, so it was hard for me to get into the casting on my own.
IMA: Had you given modelling any thought prior to being scouted? What do your family and friends back home in Lithuania, think of your new modelling career?
AK: I had a dream of being a model which I guess many girls have at a certain age. It was of course not my priority and not something I planned but somewhere deep in my heart I was holding onto the idea of one day modelling. My family and friends are really supportive of my career. The only problem I sometimes have is with my school, as it is tricky for me to be on time with my schedule.
IMA: The show season can be a real test of endurance and stamina. What are your survival tips for getting through the craziness of the show season?
AK: I am always positive and I know what I want. It keeps me going even in the hardest moments. Show season is really hard, but this is the way all top models have gone, so I have to follow that path too.
IMA: With so many new models descending on the fashion capitals each season, what do you feel are the most important attributes for standing out from the pack at castings?
AK: I guess it's the same - being positive and believing in yourself.
IMA: How have you dealt with the pressures of modelling from such a young age and what are your personal views on the CFDA's stance against models under the age of 16 on fashion's runways?
AK: I recently turned 17 :-). It's good that the CFDA's regulation is being applied because girls who are 13 years old should not be an example of how a woman should look, no? :-)
IMA: What do you enjoy most about modelling, and if there was one thing you could change about the industry, what would that be?
AK: I would like to change the stereotype that models are anorexic or stupid. Modelling is a job like another and sometimes it is really sad to hear people make such generalisations. Mostly, I like travelling but it also makes me happy to be the first to see the newest fashion trends and collections!
IMA: What do you hope to achieve in the course of your modelling career, and what do you think are the most vital factors for achieving longevity as a model?
AK: I hope to become a top model! Longevity depends on the model, it's about keeping the perfect looks, the right measurements, and a smart attitude.
IMA: You have been featured on a number of style blogs sporting an amazing fur coat! Is it vintage? How would you describe your personal street style and which three fashion labels are you currently i love with?
AK: I have to feel comfortable and run fast so my clothes have to fit all these functional needs. I cannot name the labels because I don't pay too much attention to them yet. At the moment I am more focused that it has to be comfortable.
IMA: Who are your closest model buddies and who would you like to see profiled next on IMA?
AK: I think Aurika Obelieniute or Gerda Obelieniute. Both girls have the same surname, come from the same city and same agency but are not relatives. Both are very promising girls ;-)
IMA: What makes you "Inoubliable" (Unforgettable)?
AK: I am very positive and focused on achieving my goals. My mother agency thinks I'm different from other young girls because of my will. I could not deny that I get really very tired during the fashion weeks, but in the end somehow I always find the strength to achieve that I need to do. This is my character strike that I believe is very important in this business.
