Alessandra Facchinetti out at Valentino *Update* new Creative Director at Tod's

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, GOD, I hope the Valentino SS 09 show is incredible because I would HATE to see Alessandra leave!

If she leaves, I will be infuriated. I think she's perfect for Valentino. I mean, Giambattista is a fine designer, but he'd be such a cliche at Valentino. Oh poor Alessandra! She can't get a break! Two seasons at Gucci and she's out, I SO hope that after 3 seasons at Valentino she's not out again!

I just am SO worried! I just can't stand it, how can a designer like Frida Giannini last for 8 or so seasons at Gucci, and then someone like Alessandra have such an unstable position!

I'm in shock!!! I thought she was doing so well...my fingers are SO tightly crossed that she stays!

Oh no! I hope it's not true. I don't want her to leave Valentino. She is such a talented woman

I seriously hope this isn't true, it cant be!
Alessandra did such a fantastic job in the last collection, if they got rid of her now it would be awful for her and Valentino.

Wouldn't mind at all to see Valli at Valentino, he's one of my favorites. But can't they just have him back at Ungaro?

psssh.

My exact thoughts!!!! What's wrong with this world when "designers" without merit like Giannini can survive forever, but then you have those that are struggling because they have design merit and are creative? Surely sales cannot be that bad! Oh how I hope she designs the most beautiful, most profitable, most !!!! show ever that will just tell to the rumors to f*** off. I will really really be angry if she leaves!

NO!!!! Alessandra got such bad luck. what do those damn CEOs want? her Gucci was good, her Valentino is good, if Valentino is taken over by their very own Frida Giannini, it'll be their end.

I so agree. It's SO incredibly infuriating when CEO's do this. How do you expect a new designer for an old house to suddenly make the label the most successful in the industry within 3 season's time?!?!?!? It's LUDICROUS.

It's like planting a garden. The Valentino garden was so lush, vibrant and overgrown. Then Valentino retired and his garden was pulled out and new soil was added with Alessandra...you can't expect her little seeds to grow with such speed and inrease so exponentially in size in 3 seasons time! You've got to give her time to grow...IT'S BEEN THREE SEASONS!!!! THREE!!!!!! I'm so infuriated. This is INSANE.:angry::angry::angry::angry:

Valentino had 40+ years to establish his identity...and all you're willing to give Alessandra is 1 year?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

And the worst part is how incredibly helpless I feel...there is literally NOTHING I can do.

Oh that was beautiful!!! :flower:
But I know!!!!!!!!

I feel so so helpless! I feel so that if I could buy everything from her just to keep her there I would! All we can do is wait and keep hope!

The other this that makes me so furious is that Valentino had 40+ years to establish an identity...and all they're willing to give Alessandra is ONE YEAR?!??!??!?!?!

I really hope that Valentino himself steps up to defend Alessandra. I don't care if he adores her designs or not, he seems like the kind of person who would support her...the kind of person who wants her to make Valentino her own, or at least the kind of person who would want to allow her time to settle into her own. If he has any integrity, he would.

I know and Valli has his own label already!! Why take away someone else's chance?! Especially someone who already was just getting comfortable!

i am absolutely speechless!
i have a mixed feeling... none of them are good... i am furious, and sad, and shocked, and...
call me crazy and say whatever you want... but i think this is worse than saint laurents retirement, than valentino's retirement, than anyone's retirement who already had a chance to prove his talent (3 seasons is just not enough!)... and i say this because i truly feel that we are getting more and more immersed in a world where there are no second chances, where... i just cant help thinking how devastating this can be for her! she is being rejected over and over again! and how is she supposed to deliver her best show ever with all this pressure she has on her shoulders right now?
alessandra is by far not the grandest couturier in the industry and she sure can not compare to the work of the masters i mentioned above, but she deserves a place in the industry just like the other two did! i want this woman to be at the helm of a grand couture house like she is now! she has worked hard for it and it's just terrible that she might end up being replaced by some hype MAN designer (a fan of whom is the not very valentino victoria beckham)... can you imagine? from alessandra's doll like delicacy to victoria beckham's diva wannabe...
i dont know what else to say ... this news totally puzzled me and i guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens...
i think valentino was the perfect house for her...

don't go alessandra

If Frida Giannini has managed to stay in Gucci for so long [well, not that long] and do whatever the hell she's done to the brand so far >:[, I don't see why not Alessandra as well. Give her one or two more chances [even though I really don't like her work for Valentino].
Valli? Dear Lord..

I really hope that she stays because she has been doing an amazing job...
Sometimes I don't understand the big brands... It's Chloé: for me Paulo Melim was doing a great a designer and now he's out (I don't know if he was fired or he wanted to leave [?] ).

the thing is frida sells lots of monogram bags that make gucci the big engine of the group...
whereas alessandra is under the authority of some random private equity group that treats it's fashion brand as any other company... and maybe they should know different markets work differently...

:(

Valli? Dear Lord..
indeed...

she's leaving?!?!?! :buzz: :buzz: :buzz:

as much as I dislike alessandra's interpretation on what's Valentino, I doubt this is true.

this is quite shocking, she must be eating out her nails right now
anyway, i hope she proves herself on thursday with an amazing show

I think people need to calm down, first and foremost over speculation. I thought the little comment at the end was interesting, about Alessandra paving the way for someone to 'save' the house, seems like a waste of money and resources, but I wouldn't put it beyond anyone. Poor Alessandra - always the lamb to slaughter, unless of course, she gets a handsome pay out. I did enjoy what she did at Gucci, and I think the criticisms at Valentino were unwarranted. No designer gets any good reviews their first go, they are either 'too much like Valentino/Calvin Klein/Yves Saint Laurent/etc and not original enough' or 'they do not respect Valentino/Calvin Klein/YSL/etc. legacy and went too outside the box'. I think it would also be foolish to bring Valli on board, so it'll be interesting to see how this develops.

Oh please no Giambattista Valli for Valentino!!!!!!!

He's good where he is. At Valentino, he would totally ruin the legacy and bring the tacky Valentino back.

I love Alessandra's Valentino. It's CLASSY and sophisticated!! She brings that feminine edge to the label and doesn't make women look like barbie dolls. She's respects both the Valentino legacy and WOMEN, which is the perfect combination in my opinion!
