Wags, gladrags & bingo wings (*not that she's got any!)
Alex Curran reveals what life's really like as a footballer's wife married to Steven Gerrard
By Dan Wooton, 27/12/2009
FOOTBALLER'S wife Alex Curran has revealed the truth about her ralationship with the other England WAGs - she's not pally with ANY of them!
Gorgeous Alex, who's England ace Steven Gerrard's missus, said: "Everyone thinks we're all best mates but I'm not really that close to them.
"I haven't got Coleen Rooney's number or anything and I don't know Cheryl Cole that well."
Alex, 27, isn't much of a footy fan either. She confessed: "I'll watch big games with Steven but I don't love it."
But she'll be glued to the World Cup in South Africa next summer when her fella takes to the pitch hoping for England glory.
She said: "I can't wait. Steven's looking forward to it and I want to go to support him. We've got a good chance but I don't want to jinx it."
She's already fretting about what to take though. "I'll probably pack everything and Steven will go nuts," she grinned.
One item that will be on her list is her new dumbell-style flab-buster for her arms, because Alex is frightened she'll get BINGO WINGS. "I'll take it because they can be so hard to get rid of," laughed Alex, who is the face of the Shake Weight arm slimmer.
Of course, mum-of-two Alex wants to look her best in the battle of the WAGs at the World Cup - even though they're not that close.
She explained: "If I see Coleen at parties we always say hello. I've met Cheryl and she was lovely but I haven't spent time with her. Victoria Beckham always looks great. She's got really good style."
Alex was also full of praise for Spurs striker Peter Crouch's girlfriend Abbey Clancy. "She's dead nice. She's lovely," she smiled.
Alex also understands why Posh Spice and X Factor judge Cheryl Cole don't want the WAG tag. She said: "They've worked really hard to get where they are. There are people who have gone with a footballer just to be seen with them and to get somewhere. I didn't go with Steven for this, it just sort of came to me."
If Liverpool have lost a game ... stay away
Being a footballer's wife doesn't always go smoothly though. Alex joked that Liverpool midfielder Steven, 29, can get in a strop if his team doesn't win. "If they've lost then he's not in a very good mood. Stay away when he's like that."
She added: "He constantly has football on in the house. I go upstairs, get into bed and watch my own telly because it can drive me mad."

Away from the game, she revealed the couple make sure they go out every week. "We'll have a meal or go to the pictures. Steven's not really into parties. He's more into a meal and watching the X Factor. Because his job takes him away he wants to spend as much time at home as he can."
Steven could be in South Africa for weeks for the World Cup and is making sure he's fighting fit. But Alex - who has two daughters Lilly-Ella, five, and Lexie, three - has also been doing some nifty footwork to make sure she's in tip-top shape. She exercises three times a week, loves boxing and has lost 9lbs to weigh in at 9st 1lb. Alex, who used to munch a loaf of bread a day, said: "I never used to train before I had children. I ate what I wanted but it caught up with me."
She ditched her bad habits after seeing an unflattering bikini snap of herself. "I wasn't happy with how I looked so I changed my diet and started to exercise."
That's made her a winner at home... but Alex has made it clear Steven would be relegated if he ever played away. "I trust him totally," she said. "But I have warned him that would be it for us. He knows not to mess!"
