Alexander Wang S/S 2026 New York

Let’s be real, Wang never disappeared. His brand runs on celebrity visibility and 60% of his sales come from China. He might have lost credibility with the fashion press or the New York party scene, but commercially, cancel culture doesn’t hit the bottom line

If Versace dumps Dario and hires Tisci, will it have this same reaction?

( I think Wang is repulsive btw so just asking out of curiosity! )
There’s something terrible called « biais ». There’s another thing called «double standard ». And Riccardo will get a pass.

The same way that Bruce Weber and Mario Testino can have industry people support their exhibitions or book signing and someone like Terry Richardson has to do a campaign with a questionable brand to get back in the spotlights.

And if Riccardo comes back, A-listers are going to show up.

Did Anna W or NYFW or anyone in the industry ever condemn or take a stand against him? These allegations are not disappearing.

No and at the same time, they don’t have to. There’s still an organization with employees involved. The situation is more tricky than when it’s an individual attached to a brand.
I don’t want to say anything here. Just drop this video here, same designer huh?

That collection alone was a happy accident in his career.

I don't care about his personal life but these are just awful clothes , and to be frank even when he came on the scene I always felt he was extremely over rated back in the late 2000s ( you can see my posts then too lol) this just confirms it. Ultimately he will just sell his clothes Macys under some edgy junior line lmao. All this is made in a factory in Guangdong.

Design-wise, he’s never been the strongest or the weakest. I’m glad his stint at Balenciaga happened because it revealed his true level of talent.

His brand was built on hype, but you can’t deny that there’s still a customer for the aesthetic he creates. I still see those girls in New York City. I curious to know how he’s doing in Asia.

Cancel culture is the worst when people like Galliano get cancelled for saying something idiotic and reprehensible while suffering from addictions at the time. However, when you do things that are against the law that normal people go to prison for, even if you get away with it legally that should have some consequences. Reminder he continued to market #Wangover and does after being accused of drugging people. He has zero sympathy for his actions and the money plus connections to keep going like many of the others mentioned. Thats the bottom line. At least we can all agree the clothes are trash ❤️❤️❤️

Regarding Wintour, In a recent write up in the Washington Post on Wang:

"Anna Wintour has been a key figure in getting shunned designers (at various levels, of course) back in the mix: she was a champion of Karl Lagerfeld’s Met Gala retrospective, of Galliano and of Daniel Lee, hosting a private dinner at her home for him when he was mysteriously fired from Bottega Veneta and then reinstalled at Burberry. She did not attend Wang’s most recent show, in June 2024, because Diane Von Furstenberg was hosting a conflicting event that evening, but she attended his first post-scandal show in New York in 2023.

“Every fashion career has its highs and lows, and Alex has certainly had his share of both in his twenty year career," Wintour wrote in an email. "New York has always been a city of new beginnings, and it makes sense as he navigates the next chapter of Alexander Wang that he’d want to return to fashion week in the city where it all began for him.”

Every season, there's a similar headline about him. Had he actually took time off when this happened and shown he was sorry this would be a different story. It’s not like he designs any of it himself anyways. Instead, he first denied everything, had friends calling the victims liars, and then more victims came forward. Because of Lisa Bloom and her media reach, we got a half-hearted apology that didn’t admit any wrongdoing. Then, right after that, he was all hehe go to wang.com and get a #wangover!!

People can grow and make mistakes, but the issue is that he isn’t even close to being as talented as Galliano or Daniel or compared to what they did at their lows. Anna’s response was very political, and it’s lol that she blamed DVF. If she truly supported him, she would have shown up because she has for others. She skipped instead.

I would strongly push back on that , he has no aesthetic, he was notorious for ripping off NG Balenciaga designs and shoes ultimately proved to be one trick pony with a very messy legal history. At the end of the day he is not relevent anymore and has no design cache, ultimately his brand name will be sold to private equity and in turn used to sell goods at TJ Maxx, I give that 5-10 years.

still such a bad show its burnt in my memory like a traumatic experience ...also shows that the logic of many stating to await for a designer to develop his or her language is just wishful thinking in many cases.

I am pretty confused by the amount of fur for a SS collection. It’s a winter collection to me. Are they going to sell it now or next month ?

Galliano and Karl were of of a different caliber though compared to Wang. Not to be a pacifier, but what happened with them can’t be compared to Wang parasocially and paradoxically even if I think what Wang did is just as bad.

I’ve always felt Wintour's support for Wang was more her doing her dues as opposed to actually supporting him. She wasn’t really a client, but she happened to be at American Vogue and in New York. Daniel Lee I’m not really well versed in… Karl and Galliano were at least forthcoming at their wrong doings and animosity. Wang never really did anything to work through it.

It just begs the question, how much does it honestly take for someone in fashion to truly be cancelled.
